I’ve been having issues with my connection to the game, whatever, I’m trying to figure it out… but logging back in to dungeon deserter because the party kicked me is wild.
And? Works as intended, if it didn’t people could DC to avoid debuff… so obvious. Why post this?
Joining group content when you know you are having connectivity issues is also pretty wild.
I usually give 1 min of wait time to that person before calling it.
If it takes longer than that, that person is either having severe connection issues, or isnt coming back.
You have several minutes to log back in and there is kick protection within at least the first few minutes of the dungeon.
Most dungeons are 10 minutes or less, so if you are offline for 3 minutes… you missed 1/3 of the dungeon.
While the attitude from Ithost was unwarranted… he’s not wrong. The debuff is there so people don’t cheese the system. Blame the degenerate playerbase.
turns out there’s a solution for this. All you have to do is play with friends and Guild mates. Then you can chat to each other in discord and let them know when you’re experiencing an Internet issue. The other perk to playing with friends in Guild mates, you never actually get kicked from a dungeon.
3 to 5 is more sensible.
1 minute isn’t even enough to fully load the game in some cases.
most groups im in are pretty generous, they give them like 3-4 mins before voting.
WoW isn’t a game you’d be able to progress well in group content with connectivity issues.
Storytime:
I used to live a bit rural in my last abode. It was off a farmers land section and my evening walks and ‘general peace’ level was pretty high.
My internet connection was not….
At the time FFXIV didn’t exist in Oceania and so my options to play the game were in JP or USA. I can tell you 100000% when your options are limited you are happy to be able to play somewhere.
USA didn’t connect the whole way, and by a miracle JP did connect but I was sitting at a solid 290 ms. Through hard work and perseverance I got all of the MSQ done and because dungeons were mandatory this meant often disconnects in group activity. I have to say by far and large JP folk are the most patient and caring I’ve seen. I didn’t come to expect them to wait tho because it was my own issue (and choice to live where h did). Great times!
Just queue again in a few minutes. It’s not really a big deal.
I get the frustration when it isn’t your fault, but you have to think from the rest of the party. They don’t know what is going on, or don’t know when you are coming back. They will kick you so they can get another DPS,Heals, whatever and continue on instead of wasting their time sitting around twiddling thumbs.
It always sucks when it isn’t your fault, but that is a fact of life on an online game.
Yeah, not waiting 5 minutes to finish a dungeon because someone DCed. Will give a minute or two, and vote kick.
Ladies and gentlemen, the absolute state of the people of the current century.
Zero patience.
Not really. Most random heroics and TW are done within 10 minutes. Why would I wait half the amount of time it takes to complete the dungeon to see if someone is coming back after a disconnect?
and in this case, the OP is actively wasting people’s time by joining group content while having connectivity issues.
Dude, I farm mounts patience isn’t the issue. Why should we hold 4 people up an indeterminant time because we don’t know whats going on and if they are coming back. We are not obligated to give our time to wait. The fact we wait at all is a courtesy. It again sucks if you dc and get kicked but that is life. If you are at a concert with your friends and suddenly dip with no reason, should they pause the show because you do that?
Our personal experiences will vary but from my experience, most people will wait a minute, if at all. I personally wouldn’t mind waiting longer.
Consideration for you fellow player.
The real issue here is dungeons being 10 minutes only.
They should be 25-30 and we should do a lot less for weekly events.
If the problem is known beforehand, yeah, the player is being a prick, but there’s no way to know.
Giving people a fair chance should be a fostered behavior on the community.
If I was in a team game (ever since I was a kid) and someone has to take a break, we all waited or moved along until their return, we did not exclude that person from the game.
I appreciate your courtesy, but it’s honestly not enough at one minute.
The debuff is 30 min for any kick, so it is not a “just queue again in a few minuets” deal.
While I know that the degenerate members of the community got us to this point, but I would appreciate a choice of reason to kick, and the reason would determine if they got the debuff or not.
Something like:
D/C=no Debuff
Ragequite (can also be accomplished by a DC)=debuff
More or less, let the kicker decide if it is something that deserves the debuff or not.
Was a known issue, right there in the OP.
If you are having issues with connectivity in WoW, don’t join instanced content.
Now they are 15 as we have to wait half the time the dungeon is taking for someone that DC’s and we do not know if they are going to return or not. With a decent setup and internet it should only take minute or 2 to get back into the game, unless like OP you are already having connection issues.
We don’t know, while in a group if someone has DC’d because of issues, or they simply alt F4 out of the game.
