Dungeon boosting question

I know there is a nerfs coming to prevent dungeon boosting spam with mages etc…

My question is, will this go live at prepatch or live when TBC itself actually drops? Yes, Im wondering if Ill be able to dungeon boost an alliance shaman in pre patch.

Most likely in the tbc pre patch because that’s when you will go to the new client version for tbc. (I could be wrong)

I would not expect to be able to boost belfs and goats in prepatch.

Make friends with a Hunter (Aspect of The Pack) or Mage (portals) and just blast through the leveling zones

Prepatch is TBC itself actually dropping. Experience is capped and the Dark Portal (and consequently Outland) is closed. But is is TBC.

Kinda what I was thinking myself… >.<

It’s okay friend just continue to voice your disappointment with the boosting nerfs like everyone else until blizzard listens to the playerbase.

This seems like a safe bet… and if it’s wrong and you like boosting, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

@OP - For what it’s worth, TBC brings pre-58 leveling changes in terms of both XP and itemization. If you’ve been boosting all this time it might be a refreshing change to just level a belfadin or a elegoat in the traditional fashion. You will presumably have lots of company.

Good luck!

Tell that to the naxx geared 60’s who will be camping hillsbrad and stv kekw

If only there was some way to experience the game without risk of this…

don’t misunderstand me, I’m not complaining, just not participating in it.

I’ll boost my elf paladin in wrath prepatch

I am curious what all nerfs people are seeing. Last go around I didn’t boost using a mage, I went in with my warrior with things like my darkmoon card, and just old school blastered dungeons. It wasn’t as fast as the mage boosts now, but it damn sure wasn’t slow.

When you say nerfs, are you referring to only the aoe nerf on blizzard? Or are there other nerfs I am not seeing?

There’s a bunch of AoE nerfs on the PTR right now.

If you go to an evade spot, mobs will teleport to right on top of you.

After about 30 seconds, all mobs become immune to roots, snares, slows etc..

Also after that 30 seconds they begin to permanently stun with 0 DR that goes through Pally bubble.

None of this has actually been addressed by Blizzard on if they will be in the game at launch .

The PTR itself is on the final patch of TBC so we really don’t know what we will be getting until they either address it or prepatch goes live.

Whichever comes first.

After 30 seconds of what? 30 seconds of you kiting them? Or 30 seconds after just straight combat period. Because one seems like a bug that needs fixed. Another seems like it’s intended.

If it’s anything like the anti-boosting measures they introduced for WotLK Classic, it would be this. Though for that version it was more like 50 seconds, I think?

It was actually quite annoying because I had made a prot warrior for the purposes of soloing content. It was going really well right up until ZF when the mobs did some weird stuff if I didn’t kill them fast enough. I can’t quite remember the details since it was back when WotLK Classic was new.

I’m all for Blizzard shutting down boosting, but I don’t think this is a great approach.

Yeah if it’s just straight combat then that is def not good. I have been looking around for videos of people going into dungeons and testing this and I have yet to find any evidence of this actually being the case. I have only seen videos of mages actually attempting to kite them and evade spot them, and there was one thread where a guy just posted a screenshot with basically 0 context.

You can go into the PTR and try it for yourself.

that works. even if rouping with level cap kills xp, you get full xp value on the quests.

All say 15+ quests of redridge turned in in batches is nice xp injections.

edit…or get tricksy. leveler tags no group, level cap 2 shots. that should give more xp maybe.

I’m the guy who posted in the PTR forums. It’s about 30 seconds of combat they become immune to snares. I haven’t seen the stuns because my group kills the mobs before then but it’s really clunky. Have tank pull a couple packs LOS around a corner, takes about 10-20 seconds to group them up. Then I start to blizz them and about 2 blizz later they are immune to snares and if me or the healer have aggro on some of them they come running at us. Sucks
