Dump file error in event viewer before critical error and PC shutdown(restart)

Hi! When I am playing WoW my game randomly freezes then I here buzzing from my speakers. Then my system restarts. It has only happened during game. I thought at first something was overheating but as far as I can tell nothing is. I put my graphics card(RTX 3080) in another computer and it worked fine. Then I thought because I didn’t have a heat sink on my M.2 (Samsung 980 pro) that that was the problem. I have since added one and I am still getting the crashes. In event viewer before I have the critical error(computer shutdown(restart)) I have an error that says “Dump file creation failed due to error during dump file creation”. The only other thing I can think of is there is something wrong with my Motherboard or CPU. Not sure on that. I was hoping someone here might now what is causing my problem or something I can try to fix this. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks!

…It also just happened in Diablo 4

Hey there Denray,

When the system suddenly shuts down or crashes, this indicates a critical system failure which is typically due to an issue with Windows or hardware in the machine. Here are some of the common causes for system restarts:

  • Hardware overheating
  • Conflicting/Corrupted Drivers
  • PSU (Power Supply Unit) Issue
  • Faulty Ram (Memory)
  • Graphics Card malfunction

It’s important to note that software such as a game shouldn’t cause your system to crash/shutdown–it is triggering an underlying issue. In order to isolate what is causing your specific problem I recommend these resources:

Hopefully, this info helps you find the solution. Cheers!

Thanks for the help!
