Something we did miss amongst the recruitment for the Netherdrakes Flight and the Stormdrake Flight was that we never went and recruited the Storm Wyrms from Skywall or the Stone Drakes from Deepholm.
We also don’t know if the Netherflight will have an Aspect, acting or otherwise, or if the Elemental Drakes are actually true Dragonkin or just the Elemental Planes ‘mimicking’ the life-forms of Azeroth. We know the Storm Drakes of the Broken Isles have a Brood Mother and more than one Brood has settled in the Dragon Isles, with only one of them friendly to the Valdrakken Accord and the other hostile to all outsiders.
Furthermore, Netherdrakes eventually fade into nothingness as they grow older, and require more, and larger, intakes of arcane energy to fuel their unstable forms. While their new home near the Bronze Flight’s great fortress affords them both safety and stability, their unending need for the Arcane has not been resolved. That said, just a short flight away in colder territory, there’s the crystalized Wild Magic around the Vak’thros region could end up being both their salvation and their role in the brave new world unfolding for Dragonkind. If they can absorb the Wild Magic and use it to stabilize themselves, all the better, and with access to the Azure Archives, the Blue Dragonflight and the Kirin Tor, the odds of them finding a ‘cure’ for the discorporation that affects most of their adult members only increases.
So we have both Stormdrakes and Netherdrakes running around, and we’ve yet to see if Stormdrakes can assume Humanoid form or if they were never taught, or forbidden, by Odyn from doing so, but we do know the Netherdrakes can and often do assume Mortal forms or Visages to secure resources and appear less threatening to the other races scrabbling for survival in Outland.
Does make me want to make a Stormdrake whose visage is a Human and comports themselves like a Vrykul because they’ve only really known that, and has to learn the Mortals outside of Stormheim don’t act like that, at all, and to revive a Netherdrake character who finally can walk around without having to pretend to be something she’s not.
It does make me wonder, what exactly Vyranoth is the Aspect of, truly. Life, the Dream, Time, Arcane, the Earth, what is this new Aspect in charge of protecting?
