If Blizzard designed a group toy that needs a certain amount of people to use it at the same time, could something like an actual ship or zeppelin work?
Say ten people in the same guild, a certain achievement met by all ten, and only in a neutral zone. It could have a limited radius of operation for like a two hour duration, but you can steer and play on it. Only two or three can be up in any one zone or something. Say your the 4th in the Barrens on WrA, well then you are sent to the Barrens of MG or some server that ain’t got a guild doing that atm. I think players planning and coordinating wouldn’t be as much of an issue these days.
What y’all think? What might Blizzard need to improve to make it work? What other problems might there be? How would you improve on the idea?

I could see this being a lot of fun. We’ve already got flying mounts so it wouldn’t break the game, and if it didn’t go above max flight speed there’s no benefit to choosing that over a regular flying mount aside from the fact that it could carry more people at the same time.
It would be much slower because it’s not meant to be a transport vehicle, it’s an instrument of war. The size of the ships and zeppelins in game to RP on.
I wish we had guild ships and airships. Have them work where your guild picks a specific zone to “park” it in for the week and for that entire week, members of that guild get a bonus to xp, gold, rep, honor, bonus quests/WQs become available, etc. Include with it a ship hearth for all guildies. Have them slowly circle the zone like the airships in Icecrown and Deepholm.

A customizable pirate ship that actually sails would be an absolute selling point (like Dragonriding) for a South Seas pirate based expansion. I would instantly come back for it. Same goes for a fully customizable airship that functions.
I always thought ships were a missed opportunity in BFA. And I would have made it work the same way the Horde and Alliance ship did to take you to the opposing faction’s land.
A phased ship, that you can see at the dock, until the party leader sends it to another location. Anyone in that party sees the party leader ship, and if two or more from a guild are together, a guild ship appears.
I would also add a location called “At sea” which would mimic the opening scenario from Exile’s Reach, for those days where you wanna RP the actual voyage at sea.
All of this could apply to airships too.
