Chalking it up as server issue. Asmonbalds fault. D/C killed me in town. I was away from my PC 4 minutes. I went bathroom and made a sandwich. When I returned I was on char screen as ghost. Takes longer then 4min to afk log out. So I was disconnected. That disconnect must have destroyed my character. Or the server was lagging so bad (tho it felt fine) my body maybe wasn’t near the tower?
I assume every time I have to afk in HC I’m going to come back dead.
As everyone else says, log out. Like nuking aliens from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.
Going afk on a perma death game is like trying to get some rest while you drive.
twas birb prob
Dumb person*, AFK in town
Fixed title for you.
No way youre really acting like this. Clearly nothing spawns around that tower, we get it. Something got pulled to you, how is that so hard to understand? I dont get how youre struggling with this. Insanely corny to act all hostile and know it all.
boars.
it was boars.
I tried to tell him.
Don’t go afk, EVER. It was in every pre-release guide and has been a key point of advice in every forum discussion about how to survive in hardcore for some time. If you need to leave your computer, log out. You want to know what killed you? YOU.
Maybe someone pulled a hostile creature there. It does not have to spawn there to kill you. Looking in your log is the only way to know what killed you.
Have you ever played The Sims? With cheats? Sometimes, when you “sell” and thus restore a dead Sim, the next thing that happens is them getting hit by a meteor.
As so many has already said. The only safe spot is Logged out.
It’s 100% unfair how some people die. AFK while someone kites Stitches on you is a possibility in Sentenial Hill. ANY time I have to afk, I log out. Even if the process of logging out takes longer than I’ll be afk.
The people who make it to 60 are the ones who adapt, and work with the systems in place. The strong will survive, while the weak will stop playing before they hit 60. If something kills you, figure out how to prevent that in the future.
There are also deaths that are 100% beyond your control. Such as: DC, or flight path drop bug. However, though they will happen to you if you play long enough, If you don’t die to things you can prevent, you will hit 60 at some point.
If you have a bad connection, a LOT of places have xfinity wifi. You can pay $20 a month and get a worse version of actual cable. But, it’s steady enough to actually play on (latency). I use this as a back-up connection, on top of my phone’s hotspot, incase my main or 2ndary connections can’t get me back into the game.
I’m stuck on the fact that you saw 3 dead bodies and thought “Hey this looks like a great spot to AFK!”
It was climate change that got 'em. Greta was right, after all.
Someone brought the enemy to you man no doubt if you were near the flight path guards area you should have been fine.
Were you escorting at the time you went AFK?
If you were it probably a player doing the killing.
I remember this escort quest back in Burning Crusade (the first one) where you had to escort this Blood Elf, the alliance players used to lay in wait. Targeting the blood elf that was being escorted marked you (the one escorting) instantly for PVP, and then the higher level Alliance players could just kill you outright. I started just ignoring that quest because of the griefing.
I am wondering if someone shot the character you were escorting, got you marked for PVP, and then just killed you, and the other people doing the quest. If it’s true then this is griefing, but there is little that you can do about it, but report it.
Maybe that traitor isnt as traitorous as we were to believe but just biding his time.
Waiting…
Escorting the messenger does not flag the player.
Death is eminently fair.
We each get one.
You die, you die.
Killing another player on a PvP realm is NOT griefing.
