Dueling ettiquette

What do you consider bad dueling etiquette?

  • Not starting the duel until both people are at full health and mana.
  • Using potions.
  • Not clicking off outside class buffs.
  • Using line of sight (unless its agreed upon).
  • Intentionally witing to start the duel until barriers/shields fall off.

What about things you dont mind?

Full hp/mana of course.
Pots are cheesy, but can be agreed to…bandages are 100% fine though.
LoS is complete fair game, not using it is putting yourself at a disadvantage.
Waiting as a stealther is part of the benefits of stealth.

There’s one rule:

  1. Get their health to zero before yours gets to zero.

I definitely agree with the stealth opener, I always allow rogues and druids an uncontested opener.

But using LoS? It gives a huge advantages to classes like priests, druids, and warlocks. I think it is bad mannered to use.

Why should I let someone stand there and turret spells at me? LoS is a huge part of all aspects of WoW PvP…instanced and world.

Rouges don’t get openers.

If you can knock a rogue out, go for it.

A rogue using LoS doesnt break the mage v rogue match up.

However, a druid, warlock, or a priest using LoS makes the match up more or less impossible to win as a mage. I definitely consider it bad mannered if one of those classes do it.

The only rule I’ve ever believed in with a duel is getting your opponents health to zero before they get yours to zero.

Some people don’t like classes like paladins using long CDs like Lay on Hands, yet they’re 100% ok with using their engineering helmet that’s on an hour CD.

Some people don’t like classes using potions because it’s a cheap trick, yet they are more than willing to use their grenades.

Trying to make extra rules about what can and can’t be used in a duel is remedial imo. Rogues get their opener, warriors get their opener, beyond that anything goes.

Then back up from the LoS and make him come to you in the open. Or you could both stand there 45 yards apart, them in cover and you in the open just sitting there and waiting.

I never understood that. Either all profession items should be allowed or none should be. But apparently it takes “skill” to level engineering and use grenades

Everyday.

Yup. Rogues have to earn their opener.

It’s not that simple at all. Trust me, playing a mage vs a warlock is tough. Its nearly impossible if they’re using LoS

Depends where you duel I guess for LoS purposes. Ultimately LoS can change the course of the fight and in that sense not using it to save yourself is a bit silly. Like say I got feared and ran behind a building. What, I’m supposed to just run back out into the open?

Otherwise:

No consumables or outside buffs. I’d say an alchemist should maybe get a free pass on buffing himself as a perk to his profession though because it’s something he can supply on his end. No health or mana potions though

Let the warrior rogue or feral get the uncontested opener.

Cooldowns should be kept to a minimum. If it’s not something you can reasonably pop while dueling continuously then dont pop it.

Don’t start the duel mounted charging at a hunter.
Let wars/stealth have the opener.
Los is fine.
Nothing that can’t be used in arena.
