Dueler's Guild DoA?

I almost completely forgot about this even existing until I saw it mentioned in another thread. So what was this mode suppose to achieve? Should blizz do more to make it more appealing or just leave it in the dust?

It was designed all backwards, there’s no saving it. It’s located in a place nobody hangs out, has no trade chat or other social amenities, etc.

People asked for a 1v1. They implement one and people don’t use it.

Cuz they designed it really stupidly.

idk how they designed it. 1v1 is pretty stupid as it is

Yeah but people do enjoy it. If they had done it in a smarter way, it would have gotten more attention for sure.

How though, achievements? There’s a quest for it and it’s right by the pvp hub

Well think of how the dueling community has been historically.

People hang out at the gates of Org, or in Goldshire. There’s a bit of social community happening.

That’s where they should have put the brawler’s guild. Our PVP hub is in a dumb place and is annoying to get to so nobody hangs out there.

They should have built on something that already existed.

So it’s just location? Do people actually still hang out in Org?

1v1 dueling is/was a cornerstone of WoW PvP.
The gates of Org and Stormwind/Goldshire used to be loaded with people dueling.
It helped you learn how to fight and counter various classes.

Yes. If I go to the gates I usually still find plenty of people there.

Sure. Even in Legion, Goldshire and the Org Gate was pretty hoppin’. Not today, they’re both dead. Which doubles why they should have put the dueler guild there. They managed to not only waste an opportunity, but wreck what they had.

People just duel on the balcony outside the Great Seal. I assume Alliance duel somewhere in Boralus.

Putting the guild in Zand was super dumb since even less people will come here once the expansion’s over, making it expansion-only content basically. They could have gotten more mileage out of the development. Not that there was much.

I guess I can see their thinking in placing it there though. What pvper doesn’t visit the pvp hub?

Every PVPer that doesn’t need to turn in a quest? I probably go there maybe twice a week, and it’s only for a few seconds?

Why wouldn’t you loot the chest?

Yeah how many times do you loot that a week?

It wasn’t designed to be a hangout, and that’s the issue. Doesn’t even have Trade Chat.

What? It has trade chat. That’s the only place used to hang out

I still see people in Goldshire, not super active but there’s always a handful of people dueling there

Are we talking about the same thing? The Mugambala does not have Trade Chat. And it lacked a FP even until 8.1. It was irritating to get to due to mobs between the closest FP and the place.

I just went to Goldshire on an alt on ED. In WM it was completely empty, in WM-off there were a couple levellers AFK. ED is very PVP centric, it had a lot of traffic until this expansion.

Edit: Oh forgot to mention I checked out the Org Gates in WM and WM-off, no players at all.

Maybe that’s why. I hang out as Alliance. Horde I was doing 8.2 stuff

I spend maybe 1 minute there per week.
Fly in to loot the chest and grab quests, get out.
Fly back later to turn in quests.
Never go near it again for the rest of the week.

Dueler’s guild was a potential good idea.
But it had horrendous execution.
Jarawana is right, it’s expansion-only content and yet nobody even uses it while we’re still in the expansion.

It’s 2am.
