Dude just make all the mounts able to fly

like why not at this point? you already have horses prancing around in the sky anyway, just let them all fly

grounds mounts see basically zero use anymore unless BG’s or something

Im going to have to agree.

You gain flying at level 10 now.
You cant ride ground mounts below level 10.

Ground mounts literally serve no purpose.

Let ground mounts have a reason to exist again.
We have so many cool ones.

After the trouble they went through giving all those flying mounts skyriding animations, I somehow doubt they’d be willing to just flip a switch like this…

Eh, I’m fine with not all of them being flying mounts. Not everything needs to be homogenized. I also suspect we haven’t seen the last of specific zones that are ground mount only.

but how will people know how cool i am if they can’t see me soaring through the skies on my swift zulian tiger?

It was cool the Mechagon spider was given flying animations. :love_you_gesture::robot:

They could make ground mounts static flight only. Would be nifty. Skyriding would work too, but I could imagine some of the animations would look weird.

But I agree, I wanna ride my chopper in the sky. Ohhh, make a mount equipment that gives ground mounts access to flight. Boom, that’s what we need. Completely opt in incase you do want to ride on the ground.

I dont mind, but I would like a way to keep a mount grounded for RP purposes. Basically no accidental double jumps sending you airborne.

I know I am in the vast minority here. I would at least like a few ground only mounts. I actually like walking around on the ground my first play though of an expansion. I did that for my DF lore run, that I did this month and there was so much I missed, just zooming around from the beginning.

all they’d have to do to make it not weird is just make some cloud-like animation under the mounts that don’t have an animation, at least for now, boom done

and then even better, they can add a third “swap”, you know how you swap between normal flight and skyriding with the button? make it so there’s also a “ground only” swap

in case people want that. There, minimal effort, nothing was lost, a lot was gained. Half the mounts are usable again now.

I’d be OK with this. I’d love to see the reaction on Forums though. 5 sec to go back and forth between Skyriding and Static. Add another option… oh man the threads that would start popping up.

I’ll say the same thing I said some days ago.

Just make an option to shift mounts when grounded. You can select a few of then to shift/morph into selected ground ones.

Make much more sense then letting ground mounts fly.

Especially since the Mammoth and the Yak are objectively the best mounts to use when forced to use ground mounts (no-fly zones, dungeons, BGs, etc).

So it’s even worse since getting on anything other than the Mammoth or Yak means you pay for your aesthetic choice with a loss of utility.

Feels bed, man.

they absolutely dont care if animations look bad. the pandaria serpents stay in their idle animation for all but ascend.

Yes! Make these fly please:

dude no
:beverage_box: :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

Because this is one of the worst reasons to do something. It can be part of a good reason, but it is a horrendous reason to do something if that’s the sole reason.

We already have mountains upon mountains of mounts that can fly. So why extend it to the few who can’t? What purpose would it serve? I’m not saying “don’t do it”, but I’m saying that’s where the starting point is.

And there are legitimate reasons to not do it, just like there’s legitimate reasons to extend it even further. So… to answer your question as to “why not”; because there are good philosophical, design, and practical reasons as to why one wouldn’t do it.

You’d probably have a better argument, and even success, if you made the case for specific ground-only mounts as to why they should fly. And reasons such as these;

  1. “All they have to do” - there’s still work associated with it, and that means prioritizing it. This just isn’t a priority, so no.
  2. “Just make X” - randomly thrown together things to appease basically no one is rarely appreciated by anyone, so no.
  3. “For now” - Blizzard is a multi-billion company with an overly strict development structure (at least going by what Thor as said), so randomly making temporary fixes to appease no one that isn’t for a prioritized issue seems like it’d be a waste, so no.

One can make a good argument for it, but one actually has to think which mounts, why these mounts, who is this appealing to, and why is this a selling point. Without considering those things, you get badly thrown together sticks that doesn’t work and is appealing to no one.

if they aint making all ground mounts flyable they should just make them 2x faster than they are , would at least give them a purpose then

/wave from my Alpaca in XIV prancing across the sky, lol.

Yeah. I like running and jumping on the ground with my mount, I don’t want that getting stripped by accident if this change occurs.
