Seems like we constantly have a thread moaning about Frost DK not being able to use 2 handers in here so I want to address this from my point of view. I prefer Dual Wield Frost and really hope that if blizzard isnt going to add the cosmetic option for everyone to choose which they want, that they don’t just go and make Frost DK another 2 hander class when we have plenty of options already.
I love the dual wield strength character that is frost dk. Fury doesn’t do much for me because I like 1 handers. I dont want to be an agility based ninja type and Frost DK is the only dual wield 1 handed strength class left, a master of weapons and “deadly” strikes with runic power. Meanwhile there are more than enough of the stereotypical strength 2 handed classes to pick from, hell DK even has 2 specs for it.
Frost is a whirling storm of wind and ice, perfect for the dual wield theme. It is constantly blasting away at its enemies and is a sinister sight to behold cutting down anyone it comes across on the field of battle. In my opinion, it is not just another “me swing big sword” class with a huge lumbering weapon that has no place in a theme of sharp, unforgiving shards of ice and powerful, precise strikes to wear the opponent down.
Blizzard, I really love the theme of Frost DK and am looking forward to the 8.2 changes that sound promising for a class that has been in a rough spot in both PvE and PvP for a while now. I wouldn’t expect you guys to listen to the forums too much for this sort of thing, but on the off-chance that those threads made by the same few people every couple months is getting to you, please dont take away a unique strength fighting style just to be yet another vanilla longsword fighter.

The Lich King would beg to differ.

former lich king.
Bolvar hasn’t fought visably since before he became lich king, so we have no clue what hes rocking.
So far though, hes gotten every one of us that made it to/thru legion to do pretty much, if not, everything he’s asked. So, so far hes a million individual dks strong- and counting.

And because of people like you that we moan to be able to choose between DW or 2hand. And talking about warriors, never made much sense to me that fury can DW 2handers, and DKs that canonically have unholy might use toothpicks. It’s lame.

i had an idea some time back that we were a class before this while alive. and when you choose your dk you also choose what class you were before.
you get summoned over to easter plag to investigate something, but you get ambushed by the scourge adn get over whelmed. they take you back to turn you and as thats happening you get to choose what abilities get carried over. like a fury war gets titans grip for starters.

I would love to dual wield two handers as blood actually… if I could dual wield two Edge of Agony’s as a blood dk I might actually roll a horde seriously…
Dont worry dude they wont.
From the pedia:
Frostmourne was the fearsome, rune-inscribed two-handed longsword
whichcame from the novella Blood of the highborne, the origin of dks book.
So 2h, try again.

I really do not like DW Frost despite otherwise enjoying the hell out of Frost in general. I don’t think it’s consistent with the lore or fantasy of Death Knights at all. In fact I would go as far to say that if you don’t like the slow undead juggernaut wielding a giant two handed weapon fantasy, then you probably just don’t like Death Knights. You have a Death Knight adjacent fantasy.
I really like the idea of a Death Knight incorporating a skill or affinity from their former life into their undeath. The class could definitely benefit from a major tune up and that would be a cool touch.

i dont mind being slow but i dont feel powerful. i feel squishy. and what they gave us for movment speed is worse than what we had in wod
i want to feel like a mini tank that can dps with the presences backing me up. blood making me more tanky and unholy for that on demand speed boost.
wod DA was best

WCIII Death Knight had Unholy Aura, increasing both their own and their allies movement speed.
Unholy Presence increased personal movement speed and Haste (attack speed and Rune regen).
Frost had multiple talents that inceased their own attack speed, and one that gave a similar aura to allies.
But sure, let’s pretend that Death Knights have always been portrayed as the slow, lumbering type. Or that Frost wasn’t created with dual-wielding in mind. Your suggestion is frankly contrary to the facts.

Nah its one handed. Just look at it. Large hilt and short blade.
However the original froustmourne from the early lich king art was a 2 handed sword closer to a spear. Its pretty cool, thered art of it ar blizzcon in the art collection section with the timelines
It’s referred to as two-handed across multiple lore sources. Its original art and depiction has definitely been all over the place, with very wonky sizing throughout WCIII/FT cinematics, and unit sizes. But it is a two-handed sword, there’s no real debating it.
Now, im going to have to point out that there are a few swords in the 2h category that appear to be a 1h.
Doombringer, haunting blade, sha’tari longsword…the list is pretty long. Even Admiral Taylor’s greatsword isn’t that much longer than doombringer. Doombringer is much shorter than greatsword of horrid dreams (or teebus scorching straight sword), which is a very long 1h sword.
Reminder: unless in combat, dks do not hold their 2h’s with 2 hands. And even then, if you use blooddrinker or grip, you hold in 1h.
The point is, that without intent, size doesn’t matter.
Suffer Well, my dude.

I can cherrypick examples of game mechanics that suggest the complete opposite - I don’t know that it advances the dialogue. You want to be more of a Death Swashbuckler, and that’s cool go nuts. Luckily the game design is in your favor - the developers need somewhere to send all those otherwise useless strength one-handers since Titan’s Grip became the thing to do. In for a penny, in for a pound give em talents to support it. I however played a 2H Frost Death Knight, and there are many more like me just waiting for them to bring that real Death Knight back.

I like that dk as dps can use both one handed and two handed as one class. I think that’s the only class left that has the option. Other classes like warrior or paladin can only use one hand as a tank. Rogue can use one hand but can’t use two hand.
