We DKs are getting Two-Handed Frost back, I was thinking it be fair that Survival Hunters get to Dual Wield? Seeing as you currently can equip so but none of the spells let you.
Seems fair from a logical standpoint to me, right?

Hmmm, introducing the issues that Frost DK has with balance between 2H and DW? I’d prefer we avoid that crapshow.
Given Monks don’t have a problem with it…
How long has it been for the precedent on Monks in comparison to Hunters?
Know that NPCs such as Rexxar aren’t restricted to specs, thus aren’t limited to how a player may approach the game.
On that standard:
Should Rogue go 2H.
Should Blood go Sword and Board?
Should Unholy start using daggers?
While Survival can equip, doesn’t necessarily mean they should use.
If it happens, sure.
Looking at the history of DK, and it’s inability to manage the weapon choice, I’d prefer not go down that path.
Monks Since MoP.
Hunters Since Vanilla.
So Hunters have actually had it longer.
Rogues since Vanilla have always been DW.
I’d LOVE Blood Sword and Board. That coffin Shield from ICC would be fantastic!
Why Would Unholy even use Daggers? DW Unholy was a spec in Wrath but they’ve never used daggers. Not even equippable I believe.
But hunters HAVE a Specific CLASS ability that’s allowed them to DW it’s only with pruning and spell/weapon locking that they are unable.
You’re veering away from the point. And seemingly trying quite deliberately to derail this thread…
And how long since it was phased out from the norm?
Deliberately derailing?
Such as you’re dodging the elephant in the room of DKs performance issues?
Why would Hunters even want that incorporated?
But I am not talking about performance?
Also, STYLE Points!
That elephant is being discussed in other rooms my good sir.
Indeed it is!
And if you were to suggest that Survival were to suffer the same consequences as Frost has for several expansions, it would be worth discussing the same here in avoiding any misinformation.
With that said, I am definitely not in favour, but hey, good luck.
For frost DK’s dual wielding was an entirely separate playstyle/ability priority.
This was never the case for hunters. Our melee weapons were mostly just stat sticks and we usually choose what was the most convenient with the best results. Especially with the changes to how damage scales off of a weapon I see no reason why SV shouldn’t be allowed to dual weild. We still have the ability to do so and we can’t even take advantage of those amazing one hand weapon appearances we have.
I feel like, at least cosmetically, if SV is gonna stay melee it should have the option to either dual wield or wield a two hander.
Of which, may become an issue that is introduced within Survival. Would you have the intent of providing a sub-spec, or just asthetic choice.
Being that weapon damage is still a factor, with the diversity of attacks, Survival is a prime candidate for the exact problems that Frost has dealt with for expansions.
All I been arguing for is basically aesthetically.
Weapon damage?
Let’s see… farming for one drop…
Or hoping RNG blesses you for two drops.
I’d say that if you can stick it out for two good weapons to up your damage then ya deserve it? Until say a two hander with even better stats comes along next tier and you switch to that?
Not seeing much of a problem there.
Warlocks and mages can still get wands and offhands yet almost universally just use staves.
Or even farming for 2…
Is misleading considering the very real issues that DK have, which was your prime example for the first post.
Because I myself am a Death Knight.
And WE are getting our 2H BACK in Shadowlands.
Hence relevant precedence and situation to make a case.
At what cost?
To similar issues to that of pre-Legion and further balancing issues throughout the spec for SL.
It’s an issue that Survival best avoid.
You say that with absolutes.
Blizz has said they’re not doing big reworks so the damage difference in the two substyles is not returning. It’s purely weapon damage alone.
So from what has been announced. No cost.
Honestly if they wanna keep SV as a melee class then we should duel wield. Yes back since vanilla to wrath we only used duel wielding mainly for stats, they brought sv into melee territory and we should get that addition back. As well as bring more utility for the class as a whole, nothing to the extent of a rogue or warrior but at least more baseline attacks and a few new ones to improve out performance. As much as I love SV (let those who want RSV complain) this spec is no where near being great yet. Ever since its launch in legion we haven’t been worked enough to even get close to the dmg a BM hunter or a basic melee character can do. The class needs pruning but I believe dual weapons would also be a step in the right direction
There’s a large difference between what has been announced, and information gained through testing.
Especially in regards in how DW/2H Frost is progressing, and is disengenuous to portray otherwise.
It’s best to know the difference…
It is. We can only act from what has been officially announced.
To use a different issue:
“We’re removing EXP from heirlooms.”
Big stink is raised as that’s all that is announced.
“We’ll make them as powerful in other ways.”
Well you never said that in the first place why didn’t you?
What has been announced for 2H Frost:
2H will be usable.
There are no class reworks planned for this expansion.
That means it’s only gonna be a damage in weapon damage.
All this worry is about a playstyle that does not appear to be returning.
I would vastly prefer dual wield as a worgen, the animations are just better, having options or a unique quirk between the two would also be nice.
Just this please and thank you.
