Dual Spec on Classic Era as well

I have been playing on Era since Day zero and i think Dual spec will greatly enhance my gameplay experience.

You play a priest. How will having the option to switch from Holy to Shadow or vice versa disrupt your vanilla experience?

They already said they will not be adding content pass vanilla, and to me that is already in-line with the spirit of Vanilla.

Dual Spec does not go against the spirit of Vanilla.

I already can switch from shadow to disc and back and forth. I do all the time.

There’s one thing I’ve learned from seeing changes slowly being introduced into Classic/Era. They always carry with them unanticipated changes to the meta. Each of them on their own aren’t a big deal, but combined they start to make a big difference and over time will lead down a similar road that retail has.

With boons you see people booning for specific bosses like Razuvious in Naxx. It also can change the order people do Naxx in.

The honor system changes have massively reduced WSG and AB activity. Everyone just does AV.

With dual spec I imagine you’ll probably see far fewer healers in battlegrounds. They’ll likely be rarer than a female dwarf rogue. Who knows how else it’ll effect the meta. Hard to know until it’s too late.

If you were running a raid, and lets say, two of your shamans or healers had to leave in the middle of a boss say Loatheb. Now because of dual spec, lets say you have an imaginary druid in your raid who is BIS for being a tank and a resto. But on that day, he is rostered to be a third off tank

Wouldn’t it be better for you if said druid can change his spec to resto on the fly so you can do Loatheb with enough healers without having to fly 10,00,000,000 miles to orgrimmar and back ?

Regarding the point about fewer healers in battlegrounds - i thought I’d like to share my own experience.

Most of the time in Classic Era BG pvp, I am forced to play healer as a Deep Feral or heal in full spellpower boomkin with my spellpower flask equipped simply because the battleground is choke full of ret pallys and Spriest that do not know how to properly play their class in that particular spec.

If I had the ability to respec to resto given the situation, I would. I can’t speak for you, but I feel dual spec will empower those who have a healing specialization to heal when needed (the players who would have a functioning brain anyway - and I strongly believe I am one of them)

boomy/resto combo is so fun with dual spec

i’m speechless that some people are trying to add dual spec to era :expressionless: it’s not a joke either
leave era alone

Arielba, I am speechless that after 5 years you and Lazarak continue to smear your excrement on thoughtful topics that would significantly add to the vanilla experience. Can I suggest inhaling some PhResH air once in a while?

Portal to org, summon back, it really isnt thet hard…

Allow me to Tauren-spec, meaning I can spec into the Tauren race for 50g a piece.

It isn’t hard, it is cumbersome and time-consuming. Dual spec is practical in situations like this.

I don’t think that should matter. As we should have learned going from vanilla to retail, what is “better” isn’t actually better to everyone. Many things that seem objectively better on the surface are actually entirely subjective.

Welcome to classic. Everything is meant to be cumbersome and time consuming. Otherwise we’d just sit in the city and get insta ported into instances.

Hard disagree. Dual specs add to the vanilla experience and many others like myself feel the same way.

“Adding” is subjective.
And Id argue anything that takes away from cumbersome and time consuming play is antithetical to the vanilla experince.

The authentic vanilla experience to me is not adding retail treadmill vertical progression. Anything else that facilitates and enable me to better enjoy vanilla content is much welcomed. Dual spec is one of them.
