Better switch to an alt.

Having a 100g by 40 is entirely normal. An extra 50g by that point is by no means some wild feat of heroism.
I didn’t say it wasn’t normal, though I’d be curious where you get your stats from to see that over 50% of the player base has 100G in their bag when they ding 40 on their first toon. I don’t know anyone in my circle that has had that.
IF you are questing and running dungeons, and just selling what you get on drops, you WILL NOT have 100G at 40. You have to play the AH to some degree, or get a couple extremely lucky blue or epic drops you can sell.
My guess though is that most folks who talk big about “I have no problem making tons of gold all the time” are buying their gold. Not all, but I still guess most.
This game is 20 years old. I had an issue with earning gold in 2005. Back then, having 100G to my name at Level 60 was a lot.
When I retired when the original Cataclysm launched, I had 100,000G on my Level 80 Druid, and the 18,000G mammoth mount.
IF you are questing and running dungeons, and just selling what you get on drops, you WILL NOT have 100G at 40. You have to play the AH to some degree, or get a couple extremely lucky blue or epic drops you can sell.
This is a personal problem, not a game problem. If somebody is questing and running dungeons, and just selling what you get on drops and [DOES] NOT have 100G at 40, that’s their cross to bear.
How’s that a problem? Playing the game how it is fun to them is a problem?
You know damn well that isnt what I said.
Do you know what I said?
Something about the (sub)average player not having 100G at Level 40.
Apparently this is a problem. If you’re just making some casual observation, fine. Below average players will have less gold than above-average players. Okay, great. Insightful and poignant.
Not “sub”, just “average”. The average player doesn’t have 100G in their bag when they ding 40. I’m not saying it’s a problem, I never said it was a problem. I’m just stating reality.
If you don’t mind my asking, where do you get all your hundreds of gold by Level 40 on your first toon on a fresh server. I’m legit curious.
For the record, I have also been playing for a while, 18 years I think. I have exponentially more gold on Classic Cata then I did the first time around. Making much better use of my alchemists. So I agree, more knowledge helps a lot.
But on my new dude on Anniversary, with me stopping regularly at the AH and having a L10 bank alt enchanter, I still think it will be close if I have 100G on my main when he hits L40. So that’s why I’m curious how you make all your gold at 40 without a sugardaddy 60 main.
Yeah you can thank gdkp for that lil bro! Era community killing themselves off is the funniest thing ive ever seen. Even more funny that era players want gdkp in this version so they can 100% kill the realm before tbc even drops
Wow bro youre adding so much to the conversation. Thanks for the reply! Glad retail is good for you!
I literally make stuff out of leather and sell it.
I also buy cheap stuff on the AH and re-list it for more. (“Oh, somebody listed a piece of “of the bear/eagle/monkey” gear for 20S? I can sell that for 50S easy.”)
I have more advanced methods that I do not explicitly share because other players might do the same and that would cut into my hustle (hur dur buy gold susan express sex leg etc etc).
So, that’s literally what I said, why are you fighting me? I said you have to play the AH to have 100G by 40.
…also to add, the reason you are able to make as much money as you do playing the AH, is because so few players do. If half the player base was camped in the AH, buying low, selling high, the profit margin would be garbage. So that again is all I’m saying, the average player doesn’t have 100G much less 150 by L40.
dual spec has ruined the game
If I was “fighting you”, it would be abundantly clear that’s what was happening.
If you are genuinely baffled how (Era) players have 150G at Level 40 without buying gold, uhhhhhh, well. How do you make money in Retail?
Now you are being disingenuous. I literally said how people make more than 150g, and you then confirmed it. then act like I don’t know. The reason I asked is because you fought me, which makes me think you think something I said wasn’t true, which itself is apparently not true. You agree with everything I said, but somehow call what I said a problem, and I don’t know why.
Dude, I have no clue what you are getting at. Legit confused by you.
Im only here for stuff like this.
Okay, here’s one way to make a stupid amount of gold. Granted, you cant do it until WoTLK Classic returns, and it was far less profitable in 2023 than it was in 2010:
vellums enchanted with +30 Spell Power
There. I just did something I said I do not do.
I already said, before you even called it a problem, that playing the AH is the way to do it. But you ignore fact that the majority of the player base isn’t playing the AH, they are just questing and running dungeons and posting their drops, which you buy at a low price and resell at a higher price.
I get it. I just don’t get why you think what I said was a problem.
I’m not “ignoring fact that the majority of the player base isn’t playing the AH”. I’m keenly aware of it.
Like I said, if you’re just here to make some casual observation that players who crash through the Level 1-40 mini-game has less money than anybody who bothers to put in the effort to generate gold along the way – OKEY-DOKEY.
