Dryad NPCs in Dragonflight

Anyone else that doesn’t like the new Dryad model in DF?

They updated the model in Legion to an upressed version of the vanilla Dryads, and for some reason, updated them again in Dragonflight.

The new Dryad uses the new Centaur rig, and looks nothing like the vanilla/legion dryads. Because they use a new rig, their pose also looks way more tense instead of relaxed.

I honestly find this a downgrade, and I miss the Legion version.
I couldn’t care less about it if these new dryads only showed up in DF zones, so they look different cause they’re not from Kalimdor, but they updated ALL dryads in the game with this new model. The original dryad is pretty much gone.

Here’s a link that shows all 3 models:

I do miss the old ones, especially the WOTLK ones, not because of booba, but they were a lot cuter in face! At least they have that same chipper voice though.

I like the new updated models, although I wish they were a bit softer/friendlier in the face. They look so serious and angry.

The legion ones looked so much better, DF ones look so out of place for WoW’s style imo (plus they’re absolutely hideous looking).

The DF one got them grippers. Look at those meathooks. When I think Dryad I don’t usually think murder-mits.

i think thats the whole purpose. can’t have good looking females.

DF dryads are so ugly and the cutesy dryad voice doesn’t fit at all.

I do think their power posing and angry faces are funny. Doesn’t really match their playful voice but it doesn’t bother me that much, they don’t show up a lot.

You know Blizzard though, if they don’t re-invent the wheel they get sad.

I like the skin/fur detail… but the shapes of the model, the stance of the arms, and the hair looks absolutely awful compared to the Legion version.

This, too. They look way too serious now.

Old Dryads looked way prettier. The new ones are kinda ugly and just don’t fit honestly.

I despise the new models. I can’t really think of anything to say about them. Fits the theme of “updating something that’s completely fine and making it worse.”

That theme being more of a general thing, not WoW specific. They’ve been doing a lot of software updates at my office, can you tell? XD

They look horribad and if they don’t fix them before Guardians of the Dream I’m going to be extremely disappointed. There are ways to make the model work I think - it’s not a great base model but they could have tried harder with it and they just didn’t.

LMAO at meathooks and murder-mits. They do have huge claws. And horns. Ugh… :expressionless: They need to fix them for real.

Yeah, I’ve hated a lot of the new models they’ve done for DF - like, the new whelp model is a downgrade imo, I don’t like how the new drakes look, and ofc, I don’t like the new Dryad model.
The annoying thing is, for a lot of them, they could SO easily make them look so much better. Like for the Dryad, they could make them look less tense in the pose, and less angry looking in the face. (Same with Centaur - why do they have to have that weird, tense pose???) for the Drakes and Whelps, they could just… try to make them look a little more like their Classic variants.

And now to add to this, the Keeper model (male dryads(?)) now has a tiny torso, a less prominent branchclaw and barely looks like a night elf anymore.

You massacred my boy.

That’s because they now use the Centaur model.

Yes. Yes they did.

Personally I liked the Legion & Wotlk ones better because they looked more ‘whimsical’ and more aligned to the folklore they come from.

… But yeah, the DF Dryads look like Blizz were attempting to make people wanna play them less by degrading the overall looks. lol
