With raid gear and the survival rune bears can get 70+% damage reduction–by FAR the highest in the game right now. Literally the only thing holding bears back is rage generation vs costs. Swipe costs waaaaay too much rage, and only hitting 3 targets is very limiting. Just removing rage from swipe and giving it a short cooldown would make them the best overall tanks imo, and if it hit 5 targets they’d be godlike. Currently, swipe is a massive 20 rage, hits only 3 targets, and does like 10 damage per target. It’s beyond pathetic.
You may say, “well that’s OP”. Is it though? Good tanks only improve player experience. Plus you barely see druid tanks because they’re gimped at the moment, so with a positive change you’d see more tanks overall, improving the tanking shortage even more.
Im just curious, as i have never seen any bear tanks, but do most of them just run Wild Strikes when tanking BFD? Is the Survival of the Fittest rune even needed? For threat and rage, Wild Strikes seems much better.
You miss 20% damage reduction and 6% crit immunity. Single target is no problem because lacerate pumps. My OK geared druid pulls over 80 DPS just spamming lacerate without wild strikes. Wild strikes would be better if you’re not worried about tankiness and have no other feral, though.
I feel like mitigation as a tank, at level 25 is somewhat meme-ing, but I haven’t been playing a healer at all to see how BFD feels from that perspective.
I wonder if being rage-starved might be a symptom of gearing mitigation?
Anyway, I guess with the gear we have from BFD one might imagine that the mobs and bosses are a little more serious than other level 25-ish content. I suppose we’ll see how things going at 40.
Yeah, I feel like threat is the only thing you really need to worry about as a tank, and a battle-stance warrior is generating a lot more threat than a mitigation-focused feral druid atm.
Yeah nobody cares about how well you can tank the boss. As long as you hold threat and dont die, thats all that matters. If the healers are sitting. At 100% mana because youre able to mitigate so much damage, but then all the dps are threat throttled, then your kills are gonna be miserable
