Druids sound

Dare I say, like kinda FUN to play.

Like, what’s really not to like outside of minmaxing in terms of raiding? They seem like awesome pvpers in both WPvP and Flag carryers, (which let’s face it, is the most fun job,) in BGs. And they seem incredible for both dungeons and leveling…

Am I missing something though? Like does their farming potential suck? Lol. If someone could fill me in on precisely why they won’t be more popular with the general population, in classic. I’d definitely love or to hear why?

Druids are fun. Yes that is correct. People who complain about druids being the “worst” vanilla class are just unimaginative. You just have to realize you’re a hybrid when playing druid. Use your many tools wisely.

Farming-wise they’re sort of mid tier. They’re not as good as mages, warlocks or hunters but still decent.

Unless you’re talking about farming herbs and ores. Then they’re top tier.

Depends on what you mean by “farming”. They by far are the best class for herbalism and mining due to stealth and get away abilities.

It seems to me like the majority of ‘elitist’ types, that we typically see on the forums, don’t like Druids because they’re often pigeonholed into one role in endgame raiding. Which when you stop and think about it isn’t even THAT big of a factor in the entirety of the game. Unless of course it’s literally all you play the game for.

Just that whether people accept that for what it is or not idk :man_shrugging:

They ARE fun. But most people will not play them to their full potential thus… They won’t be able to kill anyone in wpvp or bg. And they will be stuck healing because they’re to lazy to farm the right dps/tank gear.

Playing druid is a big commitment. And it can be rewarding but it depends on the players. As I said 80% of druid player will be free kills in PVP.

Which is kinda funny because druids are the only healing class capable of actually filling another role in raids well; tanking.

But yeah outside of raiding you’ll have plenty of opportunities to flaunt your hybrid-ness as a druid.

But how do you really figure that? Because I mean it’s essentially as easy as applying bleeds and dots from cat>humanoid, (heal up), to just f**king around in bear/rinse repeat if necessary? Again I’m just wondering if I’m missing something here…lol

I think you’re going to be in for quite a shock. Druids might be one of the hardest classes to kill.

Druid probably has the highest skill ceiling of any class. Despite them not having as many abilities in each form. You still have to know how and when to use them. For instance they can’t make mistakes like rogue and then just vanish reset. And they don’t hit near as hard as warrior. So what they do have is the ability to kill you slowly over time while kiting and healing themselves.

But it is not easy.

I’m not in for a shock at all. Yes they can run away easily. But all I did was PVP during vanilla . Druid players are no different than any other class in that 80% of them will be casual players who won’t maximiZe their classes potential. Now why does this matter? Because a badly played druid is far more punishing than nearly any other class.

And I will restate me position earlier. A WELL played druid is very good. But you shouldn’t pitch that as the average player. Unless they are aware and willing to put in the time and effort to truly master druid.

During vanilla, yes there were a lot more bad players. Many players who will be playing Classic have a decade of WoW experience. There won’t be as many noobs as there were back then.

Druids are pretty much jack of all trades. Master of none. People don’t usually like not being the best at something. But, druids are a very strong class.

While that may be true many players will be returning and those players who have potentially played druid since even tbc. Will realize quickly the class is much different in vanilla.

They became very good in tbc and after. Those players who LOVE druid now will likely want to play one in vanilla. So I would say many druid players will still be scrubs like every other class.

By the way idk why everyone gets up in arms about the truth on these forums. I never said the class was bad. I just don’t like people hyping something up without giving people the real side to it. IT WILL TAKE EFFORT TO BE GOOD. more effort than any other class.

But see that’s the thing. In that they SEEM like they could be the best in multiple different areas, provided the person knows the class, (which they should, after having taken the time to level it,) one would think?

They aren’t. Priests are better healers. Warriors are better tanks. Rogues/Mages are better dps.

However, druid can do it all. And that makes them unique. And they have a lot of versatility, able to adapt to many situations on the fly. On Onyxia, I once went from Healer to tank when our warrior decided he could face tank a deep breath.

And that’s what makes it fun for a lot of people. Druids may be the class to offer the greatest challenge/reward pay off.

I don’t disagree. I just wish people would give the disclaimer up front lol. You can dps but don’t expect to be a rogue. You can tank but people won’t believe you until you show them. And you can heal just fine.

I’d say that’s accurate.

Ive played druid extensively, they do indeed require commitment and skill to play well. I actually think a higher percentage of players will be playing druid this time around thanks to the increase of information that is available in 2019. my suspicion is plenty will get discouraged by the stigma against their class, and reroll.

Druids are often times undervalued for anything other then brez/innervate/Flag carrier, but i think a big part of that is the failure of (most) druid players to really utilize the tools they have available to them.

This is 100% true, and the problem with classic. The class is designed to be played as a true hybrid. But the game is designed to be where if you try that, you’ll go OOM in seconds and be completely useless to the group. Blizzard actually touched on the design of druids in an interview (or a redit Q&A, I forget which one) and intended the class to be played with a lot of actively switching between forms.
