Druids should wear mail

Now before you state the obvious that changing this would be a lot of effort and just plain confusing for a while, just don’t. I already know and I’m not saying Blizzard should change anything.

I’m saying it should already be that way, and it would be better if it where that way, regardless of the intricacies of actually changing it.

Why you ask? Well don’t ask. I’m obviously I’m going to tell you or else why would I make this thread?

There are several reasons:

  1. Balance. We’re currently at 3/4/2/3 for classes in each armor class, when it could be the much more pleasing 3/3/3/3.

  2. Role distribution. There are currently no mail tanks, which is weird because mail defends more than leather, which has three. With Druid as a mail class there would be a mail tank spec, while leather doesn’t really lose anything.

  3. Transmog. Leather has three classes that are focused on training and self mastery, and exactly one class that cares about nature. With Druid moved up to mail, druids would have access to the naturey hunter and shaman mogs, and generic mail sets can be designed more with nature in mind if all the nature classes are on the same armor class.

  4. Missing leather pieces. With four classes sharing leather drops, pieces of leather sets tend to get lost. Right now there’s still no way to get the LFR and Mythic color of the Antorus Rogue boots, and that’s not the only set with missing bits. With Druids wearing mail instead, that’s only three sets leather drops have to cover, making it much less likely for leather sets to never be finished.

Now obviously this will never happen just because of the effort it would take to change and the confusion it would cause. But that’s not going to stop me from feeling like it would still be better this way.

On the one hand, I like that druids in WoW follow the schema from DnD, not using metal. On the other hand, they could wear scales, I suppose. Could be cool, dragon scales and such.

Lore wise it makes a lot more sense for the person that is all about nature to use armour made from animal hide rather than metal forged in a city.

It’d probably make more sense for Demon Hunters to wear mail. Even more so considering the whole “Leather for mobility” thing is bogus to begin with.

I mean if we’re being honest, lorewise Druids should have nothing but leafs covering their bitties.

Lore has little to no place in this game anymore as justifications for decisions.

Crap I just realized though, MAIL ARMOR SUCKS in this game, please don’t make druids wear mail.

Except mail armor is made from animal scales these days.

Mail has some of the best sets in this game, what are you on?

I think Leather feels more like a natural choice for them.

With that said I would say your points are very valid.

You cite balance as a reason.

But just watch the next Class be a Leather pure DPS melee.

Look, I can’t control Blizzard’s poor choices.

If I could Druids would be mail.

Some pieces made by leatherworkers maybe, but not all mail.

Please name any mail set that is better than most rogue sets.

(matter of preference and all, I REALLY struggle with transmog on my hunter and shaman)

Rancorbite armor.

Eagletalon armor.

Legion Dungeon mail (really needs a better name)

I find mail armor to be the ugliest in the game. Few decent sets but the rest I’ve never liked.

Yeah I know it’ll be subjective but when it comes to mogs as far as I’m concerned:

plate > leather > cloth > mail

I will agree that rancorbite and all recolors of the eagletalon are pretty good for hunters especially (In fact, they’re mostly what I use on mine), IMO, they don’t come close to T5 or T8 for rogues.

I’ll agree to disagree though.

Why are we trying to take stuff off of people? Haven’t we lost enough choices already? It’s fine the way it is.

I think that releasing transmog restrictions would also help balance out appearances, if not physical armor types. I’d love to be able to wear leather appearances as a hunter.

I’m always naked, just really furry.
