To be druids should command the awesome forces of nature but it doesn’t really feel like they do anymore. Don’t get me wrong I still love druid especially feral but… Balance has become this arcane/fire thing. This sun/moon. solar/lunar. And to me that’s not what druids should be. I remember original wrath felt like natures wrath. A green bolt of energy. Rather then a solar wrath from the sun.
I wanna draw from the natural energy from the ground, the trees not from the moon or sun. Many nature aspects of druids got stripped away like our green wrath, and insect swarm. Yes we always had moonfire but that was to me an exception not a rule now we have starfire, and starfall and all these arcane spells. We’re not mages why do we use so many damn arcane spells? No class deals heavy nature damage. Shaman does mostly elemental damage and you got arcane and fire from druid what’s going on here? Why does no class really let me harness the damaging forces of nature.
Yes druids still having entangling roots a single remaining relic from a bygone area of druids being about nature. Druids used to feel more or less grounded. Not summoning forces from the sky. That could be a part of it but it became the whole thing. I think it was around cataclysm where the whole sun/moon theme was fully embraced. And yes, yes I know classic wow exists but it’s not the same.
Now I’m not saying to completely remake druids but maybe a glyph or something like “in touch with nature” which changes abilities to be more nature oriented. Giving us insect swarm, and making our wrath green (old one or new green just make it green), and starfire being something more naturey.
I get resto druid is still more or less natury but I wanna fight with nature not heal with it. Nature can and is often very deadly I want to experience that.

The sun and moon are not natural? I guess the moon is kind of unnecessary but it’s fun to have tides the way they are. The sun, though, the most natural thing we can get. If you have life, it’s only natural that there’s a source of energy (the sun).

I’m with you, OP. I’ve made basically this same post multiple times.
Hurricane. They already had a perfectly awesome AoE nature spell! They didn’t need to steal an arcane one from the priestess of the moon.

It is strange that balance Druid spells are ALL astral in nature. Even the sun spells are astral. The most astral is the sun is an actual star. The only nature remnants are a cause spell, cyclone, another one, roots. In pvp thorns. And healing spells. Insect swarm and hurricane always felt like the extremely Druid appropriate spells. Balance druids are just star druids.

I like being part of nature VS. commanding it. Direct control reminds me of BE and their creepy eternal fall nonsense.
The sun is def the most powerful natural entity and when you channel the moon you’d still be technically channeling the energy of the sun, it doesn’t have its own energy source (Of course you got to add magic and such into things, I’m just looking at the basics.)
Green wrath could be a glyph though, they need to add more to the glyph system again.
Actually one of my most exciting things about wrath is that I will play a balance druid. I can’t wait for original wrath (spell and game lol), insect swarm, moonfire, starfall, and having treants etc. I fully agree with you that I feel like they have strayed away from the class fantasy of balance druid in recent expansions.

They are but it’s not the fantasy I want. I don’t want to draw power from above. I want to draw power from bellow. From the earth, from the trees and plants. From the forrest. From the world. Not from space.

I think it’s because they decided resto was the nature based spec with your leaves and flowers and you even turn into a tree. It’d be a bit redundant to have two specs based around the same theme.

Yeah but it’s a healing spec. And the damage spells it does have are the same as balance anyway.

None of the classes really have a way to follow a path that would be indicative to how the class should be at its basic core.
Legion Class Halls did try to do that somewhat but its a short and temporary moment.

Nothing makes me feel more commanding of the forces of nature like Majora’s Masking someone into oblivion.

huh, i thought to be a druid was to protect nature, not command it…

They are protecting nature. Protecting it from making decisions the druid doesnt like. Truly a symbiotic relationship
I miss faerie fire on my druid.
I agree, I wish my druid were more of a force of nature than a cosmic force.
But… I do like current balance spells. I just want it all, I guess!
I have to agree, some of the class specs are just really lacking in identity and fitting mechanics.

It’s just a bad look for balance druids to use flashier arcane spells than an ARCANE MAGE. I mean my lava bursts are nothing compared to a fire mage during combustion. And that’s how it should be.
The hybrid tax is dead, brother. You don’t have to beat yourself up over that sort of stuff.
You are just as important as a fire mage and deserve awesome SFXs
I have them. Have you seen my storm elemental when I unleash it? I’m plenty flashy. But I’m elemental flashy the way I should be.
