Druids being least played class

Were they the least played first time around because of how bad they were at launch? I know they got buffs throughout vanilla and I thought they were in a decent spot for the patch we are rolling out with. Of course I don’t mean ferals being in every raid or anything like that, but at least more viable as a OT option or even heals? Am I correct in thinking any of that?

I want to play a druid for leveling efficiency (RL more intense now than when I was 15 lol) but I don’t wanna not get into any groups for content either.

If you are a resto druid you will find a raid spot
do you want to be a resto druid?
You will have a harder time finding a raid spot as the other specs. If you want to fill those roles, roll a rogue or mage instead.

Are they gonna be more than endgame healers?

For what I remember Pallies, Druids, and Priests were healers in raids. The 5% critical buff was nice from Feral. I just don’t remember how viable they were in vanilla.

Unless you insist on min/maxing in a hardcore guild vying for world firsts, I wouldn’t worry about it. The biggest challenge in classic is getting enough people together that are dedicated and prepared. Play what you like. If you know what you’re doing and don’t act like a dbag, you’ll find a group willing to play.

It’s only 3% in vanilla

I think there’s a stunningly simple reason that they were low played in vanilla:

Only two races can be Druids.

I’ve listened to a lot of videos about Druids in Vanilla and most of them say that Druids could tank nearly everything raid-wise. Only sketchy thing I heard of was Maexxna which required cooldowns Druids just don’t have. I’d say that’s a plus in your prospects in getting out of being linchpinned into a healer role.

But… I personally think there’s just going to be so many Warriors that the tank pool is going to be very saturated.

Roll what you want / play what you want.

Good players are good and bad players are bad - no matter what classes they are playing.

I couldn’t care less what some pimply mongoloid thinks of the class I chose.

funny enough if reddit and Discord are a somwhat reliable metric stick, paladins are actually the at the bottom of popularity to main

I mean, it is fairly difficult to mess up the mage damage rotation.

Frostbolt with the occasional decurse. Feral isn’t as hard as wotlk, but still much harder than mage and can be screwed up or have a lack of effort by the average player.

Basically, bad player is good when playing a mage.

Leveling wise it’s quite painful til lvl 10 for bear form and gets much better at 20 when you get cat form. Balance is really inefficient as a spec. I think they OOM faster than any class in classic. You have to shift and use cat form.

You need to decide what you want to do at 60. If you want to tank/feral or heal. The gear and spec is very different and unless you want to pay the constant fee for respecting your gonna have to stick with it. Respecting in classic gets expensive.

The issue was, until the end of vanilla, druids where the “worst” healers.

For starters, they lacked a regular battle rez. This made it harder to find pugs.

Secondly: HoTs did not stack. This created a series diminishing return effect with druids.

You would never really want more than 1-6 druids per raid (depending on size).

If you’re one of the few druids, you’ll have no problem finding a group though.

Druids had a lot of drawbacks in Vanilla. In the current patch they are still very underpowered and have some broken mechanics. Their damage is subpar and their mana management is horrific. They run out of mana very fast.

You won’t top the healing or damage meters. You are there for utility for your guild. You can help them in a lot of ways but you will mainly be in a support role. If you are good with not being in the spotlight druids can be very fun. This is not a class for those with big e-peens.

Druids are underated…

As Tanks they are better than warriors first two raids… warriors have the edge after that, but druid are still 100% viable main tanks and are the ideal 0ff-tank due to their ability to gain rage without relying on getting hit.

Feral-DPS when you put in the work, are quite competitive dps. Does more dps than hunters. Middle of the pack…

Moonkin spellcrit buff is nice…

Yes, you will harder time finding pug groups for feral/balance etc. But, if you find the right guild you can play whatever you want.

Druids are good 5man,10man, MC tanks. Resto druids are nerfed in 1.12 on healing touch and so ST healing is lower than all other classes. Innervate is used on priests and guilds usually bring 1-2 resto druids tops.

Druids are just broken in Classic. Not only will you usually get pigion holed into healing, but the resto tree itself sucks. You’re raid build will never have you go deep resto which makes the class feel underwhelming. HoTs are underpowered and can’t stack. Any other spec you’ll have to go leaps and bounds to perform at par with the rest of the group. This is why its probably one of the stronger classes for TBC and Wrath.
