I’ve held you guys on such a high pedestal for so many years. You could do it all, and we’re always the most chill people. Today I finally leveled on to 60 just on balance and feral and man, how do you do it?
Feral has so many moves but they all do the same thing. Maybe I’m just not used to combo point classes but it’s just doing the same thing over and over again. Which I get that’s every class in a nutshell but it really feels like it’s missing something.
Balance. It feels like it comes in two flavors, solar and lunar with very limited moves as well. Extremely repetitive and monotonous.
For context I play monk, warrior, shaman
I swear I’m not bashing the class guys, you’re all still super cool. I was just expecting a lot more out of the playstyle. None of the moves just really felt exciting nor seemed like I was doing a ton of damage. Just disappointed as all. Never meet your heroes.
Edit: full disclaimer, I’m sure there’s a lot of user error when I play and my gear is probably atrocious and maybe it just all comes together like a beautiful tapestry at lvl 80. I don’t know.
Edit edit: I want to delete this post because it comes off like whining and I don’t want to disparage the druids. But maybe someone can shine some light on this class that I’m just missing

Yeah well, there’s a reason I’ve mained Druid for 10 years but never as a DPS Druid.
The DPS Druid playstyle isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine. For me, the hero talents do change a bit of how them feel to play though.

I’ve always wanted to love playing a druid, but I just… don’t. I did like playing Resto, and I was pretty good at it, but I don’t do group content now so that’s out. But yeah, the dps specs are somewhat special. I just never could quite connect with either one, and I’ve tried a LOT over the years.
For context, I love my Frost DK, and somewhat like a ret paladin, and some other dps classes/specs, but nothing is as good as the Frost DK, especially in the spot they’re in right now.
I don’t want to look up what the hero talents are but I’m gonna push ahead to 70 atleast. I’m excited to see what they are, lots of possibilities

Ironically, it feels like the druid is less diverse, when the class should be this shapeshifting class that has a ton of moves. That’d be cool if there was some auto shapeshifting in the class. like with freinzied rush turning into bear. That’s be cool if there was some moves like that.

I solo this game and I use the tank form of druid and play the bear feral. you can take damage and heal mid-battle. have a level 80 at 560 atm.

Is warrior your main, because that’s super repetitive also.
I guess because I’ve mained druid for so long I don’t notice. It’s a rotation like all rotations. I don’t play balance though.
Form shifting is a part of the rotation, which opens it up a lot.
I love Resto, I don’t touch the other specs other than Balance to level and I don’t care for that part much tbh.
But as a healer, me and my Druid have had some good times.

Balance druid is extremely disappointing in TWW.
You can say that it is but I’m simple minded, there’s procs that go off all the time and I never have to wait for rage to build like I do energy. I do have a question about form shifting though.
It seems like both talent trees have talents made for other forms than the one your “specced” in, wouldn’t it be a disadvantage to go into another form though as the bulk of your talents and stats are for a different spec?

Ah i see what you’re saying yeah I get that.
I mostly play bear, but love feral dps too.
There are some talents that cross forms and become slightly different.
I’m not in the game now but it’ll be like Thrash(bear), or Thrash(cat).
It can get complicated. I macrod a lot of stuff and it took a while to figure it out.
Switching forms is more situational.
You want bear if you’re about to take a big hit, since if you’re specced for it you get a buff immediately after switching.
Cat is obviously stealth/bleeds, so if you don’t need go be tanky in the moment you can lay down a bleed or two.
Can also hit them ranged with things like lunar beam, etc, if you’re too far or need to keep out of aoe for a moment.
To me the draw of druid is fights feel like a sort of dance, moving in and out of forms, adapting, or even filling in if the tank dies.

You have to like ramping up on astral power and getting your big pewpews in on the solar/lunar eclipses. You also have to like layering your bleed damage on feral. In guardian you have to layer your shields and self heals, and in Resto you have to layer your HoTs. It’s always been this way, but the hero talents make it more finicky how it all ties together.
It has felt subpar this expansion. Cat weaving heals has been about the most interesting change up, but it’s still a lot of work for what feels like minimal returns.

It might not just be your thing, no hard feelings because I feel the same about every other class except druid. I wish I could love mage and warrior, but to me their playstyle feels super repetitive and rather boring.
As for why I play druid, it just clicked and I’ve never stopped since. Don’t sweat it and have fun playing what makes you happy.

kinda glad my druid tends to level as guardian but does instanced group content as Balance, I get to run around as a big werebear and punch people’s faces in and tear them apart with tooth and claw lol. I’d imagine feral plays like rogue but what spec rogue idk… I used to play resto druid but got sick of the kinds of groups I landed in doing that so yeah not touching resto again

Ironically i staryed as warrior back in vanilla and after a few year got curious and tried druid. Never went back.
Being able to stealth while afk in the world, or tank in a pinch or heal yourself is all just too cool.
Especially when you have all your macros setup for the forms, you’re just swimming.
Balance Druid was my jam back in Shadowlands.
The Astral Magic aspect was something I always loved about the spec, not too many games give you the power to drop moons on ppl.

As a Druid, it sounds like it is just not for you. I mean, obviously Warrior has a lot more flavor. Swing sword… slam shield… oh wait. That can’t be right. Oh yeah, there is a third thing charging or leaping. But then it is swing sword… slam shield.
Hate to break it to you, but there are very few classes that do a bunch of “different” things. My Arcane Mage is one of them. I have 9 different arcane abilities that all have a different purpose and animation. Not every class is for everyone.

My experience playing a Balance Druid over the last 20 years has been the literal definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
Every expansion I take my Boomkin off the shelf, dust him off, level him to max and then play him for about 3 days before he goes back on the shelf to gather dust until the next expansion.
I don’t know if it’s because the spec has gone through so many reworks over the years to the point of becoming too convoluted to play, or maybe the playstyle just isn’t for me.
I can’t for the life of me fathom how people play it as a main class/spec.
