I started playing WoW back in Open Beta and stopped around Cata (like a lot of other people). I wanted to make a request for some proficiency changes, specifically to Druids.
Firstly, Polearm proficiency was added to Druids in WotLK in Patch 3.0.8. Given that this was actually already changed in a future patch, I think that same change should be applied to the current system. Sure, it’s not a critical change, but right now, the only people that use Polearms are Hunters and maybe Warriors. Giving Druids the option seems to make just as much sense then as now.
Secondly, dual-wielding. Now, I’ll grant you that druids dual-wielding daggers and maces doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about fist weapons. Druids can use them, but they can only use one. Given that they already use their ‘fists’ a lot in their primal forms, I think it makes sense for them to be able to dual-wield fist weapons, and perhaps only fist weapons.
Just because “it makes sense” doesn’t mean it brings anything to the table that’s not already there.
I couldn’t care less whether these weapons get added or not … for me #NOCHANGE is about not tinkering with core class mechanics, character progression (talents) and the overall gameplay … it’s simply a non-issue for me, I have plenty of weapons which work already.
Why would you worry about using weapons since druids use feral forms for physical DPS? (This is based on stats, not weapon dps)
You can dual wield items in one hand with an off hand (mace with offhand item, dagger with offhand item) If you are attacking with your dagger to a mob, you aren’t playing the class correctly.
It is somewhat easier to gear with staves and pole arms compared to having to find 1h and offhand combo or upgrades always. I always tend to find a stronger staff or 2h wep will frequently drop ( stats wise ) before I find both 1h and offhand.
For example that 7 agi spear in deadmines would be nice for feral ( if no one else needed ) because finding a 1h and offhand with that much agi combined is kinda not easy unless you hit the a/h. I know this will be replaced fast so was just an example of how it makes gearing easier and that might be one reason peeps want it.
Either way I personally dont care if they change it or not because for some reason I remembered going to get polearm training at 20 before on the druid but cant remember when that was lols. I dont think we need dual wield on druid as that might break some stuff.
Like mentioned above blizz never did much with polearms as a wep so generally most are meh at best.
