These two spells are already absolutely running rampant compared to the health pools of players…
they need massive revert of their buffs received last phase.
i told them to leave it alone in phase 1 and now look at this mess
As of right now both are hitting for 800-1000 normal and 1400-1600 crits every 6 seconds which is essentially a 12 second fight WITH zero consequences (mana cost, cooldown, CAST TIME) where you die in two shots
And getting no words from blizzard on any sort of plans for change is very discouraging
this will be a phase 2 killer

There’s no debate here. Starsurge critting for over 1000 when people have 2000 health is dumb.

Chaos Bolt hits for 1700+ guy was like 34 or 35 in SM. Pretty sure you guys just don’t want druids to be good at anything.

But it’s not an instant cast.

If they did that then you would end up with SPriests running penance, which might be more scary. (Penance did more damage than SW:D and had the choice of being healing)
Im going to say something controversial:
The game is worse when Druid casters are uber powerful. Design 101: You dont give a high mobility class, that can also heal, a strong, instant nuke on a short cooldown.

If casting while moving is going to be stronger than casting while standing still we have gone full retail and people haven’t caught on yet.

Penance can’t be cast in Shadow Form so them doing that would require shifting to cast even for damage. It’s also interruptible so it has a counter play, same with Chaos Bolt, Pyroblast etc. Big nuke spells like that have long cast times to counteract their high damage. Starsurge and SW:D being instant with very short CD’s makes them oppressive to play against.
SPriests are so tanky that the damage they take from casting it is irrelevant, even more so if they have healers around (or pop VE).
Druids are so mobile that they just kite you forever flinging instant 1k Starsurges every 6 seconds, even if it doesn’t crit it’s hitting for 500-600 every 6 seconds which is more than enough to kill someone in 3-4 casts, while infinitely kiting and being immune to 90% of all CC. You could literally cut its damage in half and it would still be an insane spell.
Keep in mind this is all mostly while still in leveling/BFD gear. Once people get into Gnomer properly and start scaling massively, these spells are going to be one-shotting anyone who isn’t stacking stamina.

I honestly don’t know how you survive a full strip of shadow priest dots followed by dispersion as someone like a warrior or rogue. I haven’t even fought one head on yet.

Oh thank goodness, I heard people saying you could use it because it was a Discipline spell rather than a Holy spell.
12 seconds isn’t that short, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it got changed to like 15 or something
I’d heard that too, which is weird because “Discipline” isn’t a class of spell. It’s a holy spell, it does holy damage and heals holy-ly. It would be like saying Shadowbolt is a Destruction spell rather than a Shadow spell.
I’d make it 20 or 30 but then give it a reset if it actually lands a killing blow, incentivize it being used as an actual execute instead of just an instant nuke. Either that or keep its current CD but prevent its use on targets above 20% hp like other execute abilities (could even shorten it then tbh to 4 or 6 seconds).

Thats after a lock hard casts 3 spells lol

I see this as a fair change, my only concern is PvE because SW:D does a substantial amount of damage and a change like that could knock them back down to the bottomish
That’s an easy fix, just move some of the damage profile into Mind Blast/Spike. Shadow has gotten a LOT to improve its PvE DPS and preliminary testing is showing it right at or near the top of meters. Things will likely change, but right now they’re looking very strong.

wow its like no one believed me when i said blast death will be over half your hp at 40 and you people still hated the idea of pvp damage reduction.

I don’t know if that’s a good idea…
A 42-yard spammable spell followed up with an auto-crit MB. That with more damage might also wreck PvP
Well it was doing 1/2 people’s HP in P1, the only issue was it also did over 1/2 of your HP

easy fix is pvp damage reduction. if its not spriests its druids, if not druids warlocks, if not warlocks shamans, if not shamans rogues and so on. TTK is a shtshow and needs a blanket fix.
If it requires setup and has a counter through kicks/LoS, it’s acceptable IMO. Standing still and hard-casting is allowed to be strong. It’s the instant casts that chunk 50% of a tank’s health with no requirement other than range/mana that I find to be problems.
Yeah, that would probably be the best way to handle it. Remove the nightmare that is balancing between PvE and PvP entirely.
