So I saw a week or two ago that Blizzard is planning on adding some new druid shape-shifting options to the character customization process, which is awesome and I don’t even think God knows why it took so long for this. But, why can’t we just get several glyphs to do this in the first place? From what I have seen in the SL alpha so far, the new shape-shifting form selection is very limited (of course it’s still early), but I also see no reason why scribes shouldn’t be able to make some type of extra fancy glpyhs for druid forms as well, and profit from some really awesome and unique designs. This seems like it should have been implemented a long time ago when Inscription was massively overhauled in Legion.
If the new character customization options are very limited in Shadowlands, I hope Blizzard gives scribes some very cool techniques for shape-shifting forms because we have been dying for more customization forever!
Now those of us who have completed the legion artifact quest lines and conquered the mage towers in bear and cat form know how amazing those artifact forms are, and so this is not aimed at that. This is primarily a suggestion for new players or any player who has not even played Legion or never was able to do the mage tower altogether. And it is also for flight and travel forms, which are severely lacking in variety. I just think it would be super cool to see a good supply of shape-shifting forms of every druid role for all starting characters at character customization (including resto/balance, which is severely lacking in variety of form), and then some really awesome forms that are only learned by Scribes. This would allow those players that were not able to do the mage tower to acquire some really neat forms in a different way.
It could just be an “Ultimate form” line for a top level talent. An example would be if you can pick from Elemental, Dragon or Dino form as enhanced versions of shifting with different upsides and downsides.
I feel like a barber shop or transmog like option for our forms would be a lot cleaner than trying to tie them to glyphs. Look at the mess they made of travel form and its pile of conflicting, mutually exclusive glyphs.
The weirdest thing is that the travel form glyph thing seems to be by spec. I got Dolphin form for balance, but when I go guardian…I’m a walrus thing again. I pick balance, dolphin…
Should I really have to pay a thousand gold multiple times to apply a new form to each different specilization? That feels pretty damn silly.
It’s not just the Travel forms, it also applies to the Moonkin Glyph of Stars. The good news it sticks even if you change the Affinity to another one and then switch back.
Make it a talent for feral and guardian druids. The dragon form need not be big… About bear-sized would do. But give it a breath weapon on a cooldown and the ability to fly when not in combat. In all other respects it would function as alternate artwork for bear or cat form.
basically I would make the forms available for all specs, and just change based on what you are. Maybe green flight for resto, blue flight for balance, black for guardian etc. Same with elemental form, nature form for resto, air elemental for balance, earth for guardian and fire for feral.
If we’re going to have to shapeshift all the time, at least make it into cool things not just a tree and a friggin man owl.
