Just wondering if there is a option I am missing that works like Worgen or Dracthyr to auto change in and out of humanoid form during combat?
None currently. Druid forms are controlled manually only.
Likewise Shadowform for Shadow Priests.
Although you would probably get better discussion in the Druid class forum. And you could ask the developers to consider implementing this idea there, whereas posting about it here would not count as a feature suggestion.
Thanks for the quick response. I hope in the future they add one. Been playing more Balance druid lately and wish it would just switch back automatically.
Well thats the thing. Shape-shifting is a class fantasy. Big part of their identity.
With that, certain abilities are locked behind certain specs/forms. Auto shifting like that would be a balancing nightmare and cause some issues (dropped form to go Bear for extra defensives and put right back into Moonkin form defeating the purpose)
I will say that I keep my main action bar clear while in night elf form (while balance, feral, or guardian) as a visual cue that I’m not in the right form. I don’t know if we need an automatic toggle since there could be reasons to bonk or stab the enemy in humanoid form. I’d prefer to keep shapeshifting under our control.
Druid is fun because we can flop around in many different forms…which can be useful in a fight. So to make sure I am always in the right form when I want to attack something I bind that form to my filler Key in other forms or stances.
So as Feral…my 1Key is bound to Brutal Slash/Shred. So while in Bear/Travel/Human forms, my 1 Key is bound to Catform. When I play Boomkin or Guardian…its the same way…Filler key is set to the Main Form.
I like the shape-shifting. I just want a toggle option to auto revert back like Worgen or Dracthyr. That way if you want to keep full control you can or just have the game do it.
I basically put Moonkin form on my action bar in humanoid form in every position where any damage spells are in Moonkin. Not sure if that works for you but it does prevent me from accidentally trying to deal damage outside of it.
What I personally do is Keybind my main form to the most pressed button.
For example, Cat uses Shred all the time. So, in caster form, I have Cat form in the same button where Shred would go if I was already a cat.
Moonkin uses Wrath all the time, so, in caster form, I put Moonkin where Wrath would be.
That way, it is almost an “instant shapeshift when in combat” because I am very likely to press that button and change to the form I want to be in.
