It’s the only effect in any game I’ve ever played that bothers my eyes like this.
I can’t play Druid, or at least any build of it that uses this spell ever since the spell was updated several years ago.
I was hoping with some of the new settings I could find something that would make it better but so far it’s been futile. Every cast feels like it blinds me, doesn’t matter how brightly lit my room is.
As far as I know I don’t have any condition that makes me sensitive to things like this.
I can literally sit with my nose to my monitor watching a strobe effect and not be bothered.
But there’s something about moonfire that is viscerally painful to me.
Please help T_T.
This is very interesting, hmm I’m very puzzled so first let me ask some questions.
It is the spell color? since you only have this issue with moonfire, if sunfire doesn’t do this I take it? it has to be the color?
have you tried gaming filters? color filters in game? You’d have to tint the whole game but maybe that is it?
I know you said you don’t have a condition but this really sounds like something, it seems really strange if a strobe does not do it.

If it’s too bright, try using the photo sensitivity option in the game along with lowering the brightness on your screen some.
I have massive photo sensitivity and bright lights will blind me. Turning that on on helped out quite a bit.
ESC → Options → Search Bar top right → type in Photo → click the checkbox for “Enable Photosensitivity Mode”
