Druid lunar idol disappeared, can't "use" again to learn fury of stormrage

EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND! I didn’t realize the relic was actually a piece of gear that gets equipped! So it was on my gear the whole time. I feel dumb but happy it’s not a bug. Anyone else encounter this problem?

I started my druid, reached whatever level gives you the breadcrumb to go find your first rune… then I went to the razorback area and found the chest. Looted the chest and got the lunar idol. It said to kill mobs with moonfire on it, then use the idol again to learn the rune.

I hadn’t learned moonfire yet, but I figured that’s no problem, I’ll go back to town and learn it.

On my way back to town to learn moonfire, I clicked “use” on the lunar idol to just get it started, and the idol disappeared from my inventory… which means that now I can’t “use” the lunar idol again to learn the rune once I do its instructions. it’s gone from my inventory.

I still get the inspiration buffs from killing mobs with moonfire, but there’s no lunar idol to “use” again to get the rune after I get the max buff status effect.

I’ve tried looting the chest again (it’s empty).
I’ve tried restarting my game, doing a /console reloadui, and just waiting overnight to see if it was still a problem the next morning but it’s still a problem.
I’ve tried abandoning and collecting the breadcrumb quest again hoping that would reset something… but the chest with the idol is still empty and I can’t collect it again.

Edit to add: I’ve also confirmed that I have no runes learned at any step in this. It’s not possible for me to have accidentally learned the rune and missed it because it won’t allow me to finish the steps to learn the rune (last step would be to “use” the absent relic again to learn the rune.)

I filed a bug in-game, but I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if there’s a workaround? The other druids I ran into hadn’t run into this problem.

I SUSPECT it might have been caused by “using” the relic before I’d learned moonfire or something and it’s a bug. but I don’t know for sure. Any thoughts?

Did you check your relic slot on your gear? When you loot the idol it goes to your inventory. When you use the idol you equip it. While equipped you get progress on it with those inspiration stacks. When you meet then requirements you then need to right click it from your inventory to learn it.

Yes, checked the rune tab and it says no runes learned. It won’t let me complete the steps to learn the rune (last step would be to “use” the missing idol a second time), so it’s not possible for me to have learned it yet either. (I’ll edit the OP to clarify this)

Oh wait! You meant a relic EQUIPMENT SLOT. Like a piece of gear. OMG.

Ok I just checked and yes, the relic is in the relic EQUIPMENT slot in my gear. I feel so dumb. Thank you. I’ll edit my post with the answer. Tempted to delete the post because embarrassed (lol) but I feel like this info might be useful to others who run into this and don’t remember relics are PIECES OF GEAR. haha.

Thank you SO much for this post. I have been grellkin’s trying to get it to drop again. Had it equipped the entire time!
