Yes, “it’s not a mount” is the correct answer. I could be wrong, but I don’t think Ghost Wolf benefits from some passive movement speed buffs either. There are caps on this stuff.
On the other hand, we can wild charge in travel form, allowing safe drop from any height, and we can interact with many world objects in travel forms.
Pros and cons.
I used to think what you did, but I’ve come to realise over the many years playing druid that travel form is extremely strong even with the lack of mount-related buffs.
If I’m not mounted I should receive my player buffs.
Just because Druids can do something special doesn’t mean these buffs shouldn’t apply. Blizzard even acknowledges this as Druid flight form does get mounted speed buffs.
My DK gets a class speed mounted boost on top of the guild mounted boost. Is that also whining about perks on perks?
These are people who miss the hybrid tax. The current state of guardian is proof that the hybrid tax is alive and well in the minds of developers and those in the playerbase who want other classes to be hamstrung.
Did you play a druid in Classic? At the start of classic, attempting to interact with an NPC or a mailbox while in shapeshift form would give you an error, because beasts can’t do that. When I recently went back I found they actually had fixed that, and now you get knocked out of shapeshift form and are able to interact.
While there is a Tome of Mount Form, it’s a separate travel form that is awkward to use when you want to. I miss having a glyph that let you allow any party member to mount. But I guess the small-minded people who are morally opposed to sharing won that battle.
