… yup bears still fubar
thanks blizz.
I liked the feral changes BUT balance needed a new mastery…
The Thrashing Claws talent looks cool. Their reasoning for adding it is all kinds of wack though. Maintaining 3 bleeds is not complicated. It is however very frustrating and expensive. It feels horrible spending so much energy on thrash when its damage is lack luster and only serves as a percentage boost to bite/brs.
These changes will boost its damage and make it FREE?!
Thats massive DPE savings and might end up being an extremely powerful talent, comparable to SOTF or Omen, and as a side bonus, yeah, it makes the rotation easier.
That potential energy savings makes it a no brainer choice against merciless claws, which most people dont even take due to how little swipe/brs actually does overall.
The nerf to relentless predator seems super unnecessary. Its already a talent that is like 50/50 on taking or not taking it. Now it is exclusively a single target only talent maybe.
Give it up for Thrashing Claws now lol gonna be hard to get used to waiting for 50 Energy again when I’m used to spamming at 30
Make an aura!
Green light to bite! (mines actually yellow)
No need to watch energy,
I don’t have any special addons that would let me do that lol

That’s it lol. But it’s super easy for me to just glance. I’m used to running the basic UI so tracking all that stuff becomes kind of second nature to me
i use power auras, which still works on any old aruas you made. but… it hasnt been updated since 9.2.7 and you cant edit anymore without it crashing.
Weak auras works too, but i just dont like it vs PA.
We don’t need a new mastery, just our old one back. Mastery boosting eclipse alone would make solar viable.
I’m really just gonna need to get on the PTR and test the new Feral Changes to see if they break things I enjoy.
I like when I hit Incarn and just get to Shred>FB>Shred>FB etc etc. It feels like every other button press I’m just dropping bombs.
I feel like they just need to buff the crap outta Shred so we can do competitive single target damage while Incarn is down and feral’s biggest downside goes away. I dunno why we’re wasting creativity with thrash for Feral when Guardian is on Life Support in the corner. I’m not totally opposed to it.. maybe its a great change.
I honestly wanna see more love for Guardian atm.
I feel like it just one of those… “same same, but different” situations.
The path we take will be different, but we will arrive at the same destination.
Builders will still grant 2-3 cp…
TF will still grant cp after finisher (if talented)…
and now you get passive CP generation from berserk every 1.5 sec.
Plus now you dont loose combo points from critting @4cp or from using BT.
Instead they are banked and refunded after using a finisher.
Thats some good QoL.
Feels like we will still be using a finisher every other Global.
This change was unnecessy though. It doesn’t even begin to address the valid complaints ferals have with berserk. This catering to the bad players of wow who cant even be bothered to read a tooltip needs to stop.
It does for those using BT. I think that’s the main issue they’re addressing without ocming forth and saying it
It could be..
I just have this sweeping suspicion that it’s gonna end up making Bloodtalons mandatory again… and then on top of that making the rotation less fun. All it’s gonna take is enough wiggle room to squeak in a BT proc every other finisher without overcapping on CP’s and it’s probably over for Lion’s Strength.
Which is fine I guess? I’m still just reading the PTR notes like “what problem are we actually solving here?” They say the condensed rotation is “repetitive” like it’s a problem to solve.. and I’m over here like… no you fools it’s beautiful. It’s simple… and people are overcomplicating something that is/was my favorite part of the rotation. It seems ridiculously intuitive to me. Keep your bleeds up, don’t overcap CP, and dump as many FB’s or PW’s as you can. What isn’t to love?
Reading their notes about the changes –
Feral
Berserk
Before Embers of Neltharion, Berserk worked by restoring combo points after finishers and making Rake and Shred deal damage as if you were stealthed. This seems simple enough, and it accomplishes the goal of accelerating the rate you can cast finishers and deal damage. But under the surface, it requires a bit of cross-referencing other talents (like Pouncing Strikes) to figure out what it’s doing, and an advanced degree in Feral Science to determine the best abilities to use in different situations. The value of generating exactly 3 combo points with each builder can make it optimal to ignore abilities like Rake and Thrash entirely, which is unintuitive and makes the Berserk rotation pretty repetitive.
In Embers of Neltharion, Berserk is changing to this:
Go Berserk for 20 sec. While Berserk: Generate 1 combo point every 1.5 sec. Finishing moves restore up to 3 combo points generated over the cap. Shred and Rake damage increased by 50%. Combo point generating abilities generate one additional combo point.
The new version of Berserk aims to keep the excitement of Berserk’s accelerated rotation with frequent finishing moves, while fully rewarding you for maintaining Rake and Thrash’s bleeds and generally using the same builders you’re used to in the rest of your rotation. Since the steady flow of combo points can make it easy to go over 5, using a finishing move now restores up to 3 of those excess combo points so they aren’t wasted. If you have 4 combo points, cast a builder that crits and generates 3, then cast Ferocious Bite, you’ll have 2 left over afterward.
This update also allows some talents that lost a lot of power during Berserk to maintain their effectiveness, such as Bloodtalons, Sudden Ambush, and Lunar Inspiration. Berserk still increases Shred and Rake’s damage to retain some of Berserk’s particular effectiveness against single targets.
It sounds like they’re trying to get rid of the whole Builder>Bite>Builder>Bite during incarn playstyle by allowing you to use two builders to go over 5CP without losing any CP during incarn.. and I’m just reading this like.. who on earth is crying about this? This is almost certainly going to make Bloodtalons mandatory again… and then nobody is going to take Relentless Predator anymore, because we’re still going to be casting fewer FB’s during incarn-- cause we’re gonna have more globals eaten up by trying to maintain BT procs – not to mention them nerfing Relentless Predator.
We’re like inventing new problems to solve based on what? Was there some kinda poll I missed on what is fun? I’m super confused about it.
I dunno. As always I just need to get my hands on it before I get too invested in it.. It’s just frustrating to read something that is basically like “I’m so glad you’re really enjoying Feral again, so we’re gonna change something you enjoy because some feedback that came from ??? Oh and we’re also gonna try to make sure you have to go back to using Bloodtalons because we know it’s mildly annoying to keep track of. Also maybe it’ll even make you take Lunar Inspiration again which we know you so vehemently despise.”
It just makes me wonder who they’re listening to.. and how do I submit feedback that can get to developers so they know that at least one person doesn’t want that.
If they do it anyways, it is what it is and I’ll adapt.. but that wasn’t what I wanted to read at all lol. Obviously we’re gonna play whatever works the best… Conceptually I’m just struggling with the “Why” here.
I stopped playing balance when we became a mandatory 3 dot spec, since I hate the tab target DoT playstyle.
I’m holding my breath to see how these changes turn out, because I’d love for it the a nuke class again.
