Hey guys!
So I have never played vanilla and have been going back and forth on which class I should play since I am a casual player and will likely only have time to level one for a while.
Looking through classes and certain specs the 0/30/21 druid build really caught my eye.
I ultimately love to heal, but also want the ability to be able to go out into the world and be efficient at farming mats/questing.
My question is, would this build allow me to heal 5 mans and possibly pug raids, but still be able to be sufficient in solo play?
This is the druid wsg flag carrier build. It also should work well for healing. Make sure to get int gear. It works well for tanking also.
30/21 basically allows you to do everything but be a balance Druid.
Also, there are two 30/21 specs, cat and bear, which pick different talents.
Just something to think about.
If you have the gear to heal, its possible to heal pug raids in a hybrid spec.
Well yeah its sufficient for solo.
Well you will have to learn the weaknesses and strengths when healing 5 mans its all about team play.
If your gathering leather, minerals, herbs, or low level enchanting items, fishing then yeah should be fine and killing mobs for mats.
I’m maining a druid because I love the hybrid classes, and enjoy healing a lot so if I get pushed that way end game eventually it’ll still be fun. But. I’m planning on starting with a 30/21 tank focused build, see if i can do most of the 5mans as either tank or heal, just needing to swap gear. From what I read it’s a doable goal and it sounds fun to me.
druid and priest have always been my favorites and this thread came along right as I was lost in a thought of feeling really good about priest
That is how I feel! I want to be able to do multiple things without having to swap builds, just gear.
I’ve been switching back and forth between those two, too. I’ve never leveled a priest, but they sound like a lot of fun. Probably going to be my first alt. I think the main thing keeping druid on top is the flexibility, but melting faces as Shadow in PvP is reeeeeally tempting.
Looks like the choice is made!
30/21 (1/29/21) is mainly a PVP spec that is able to heal dungeons and fill a healer role in raids if needed. I personally enjoy going a full build for tank or healer if that is my role, but I’m competitive. Something like 14/31/6 for tank, deep resto 13/0/38 for tank healing and Moonglow 24/0/27 for raid healing.
A great Resto Druid can compete on healing meters with Priests if the spec is right for the job. Just get to know the right downrank for the situation.
100% absolutely!
Just make sure you are 5/5 Thick Hide.
I used this build as a feral druid back in the day and it is very powerful. You can easily quest, farm mats, but also be able to heal decently in 5 man groups and tank in any raid.
You can innervate yourself and have that bonus 20% intellect thanks to Heart of the Wild which also gives us that meaty +20% stam in bear form.
Overall, a very powerful and solid spec to play long game.
How good is Thick Hide? I always thought it only buffed your caster form armor bonus and didn’t scale in Bear form. I could be wrong.
Thick Hide 5/5 increases your armor contribution from items by 10% It’s actually a pretty noticeable difference and yes, this effects your armor in bear form.
Now one could do without it but you will definitely feel the difference when tanking. I usually took Thick Hide to ensure I had as much armor on my bear just to have that edge for tanking raid bosses or off tanking as needed.
Thanks for the great responses everybody, much appreciated!
I mained Druid from release and healed for four bosses in Naxx before quitting. 1/29/21 (1 point in nature’s grasp) was fine to heal with. You will mainly use de-ranked healing touch though. Not many HoTs. It’s a great spec and can PvE fine - just gear correctly and know your role. Raids ideally don’t take more than one of those specs though, with the other Druids being moonglow or swiftmend.
If you are going to be casual and like healing, I’d say play priest instead.
Easy leveling with wands and spirit tap. If you get bored of one play style, you can go shadow which is great. One of the best solo DM farmers when it comes out. Can even go hybrid to apply debuf if no shadow is about.
I played druid and will do so again most likely, but it isn’t as easy to be casual with one compared to a priest.
No. Deep resto with swiftmend is the druid wsg flag carrier build.
You CAN heal 5 mans and raids with that build, but there’s going to be noticeable differences. Ultimately, you’re going to be carried. You’re missing a lot from your resto tree that does add up.
A reality for the healers was that killing stuff was painfully slow. You’re going to have to sacrifice on one of them, either your healing is weaker, or your killing is weaker. There’s no magic build that made you efficient at both, for any class.
Personally, abuse how little early dungeons depend on spec and have fun healing while you use your build, then at higher levels, even at the 50g cap, that’s easy to make, long as you’re not respeccing multiple times a day, just go with a full dedicated build. You’re going to notice a huge difference.
It’s a pvp build that allows you to tank and heal as needed. Ebbnflow has great druid guides and suggest checking them out if you’re interested in druid.
