Dropping instance group - game won't create new instance

I am trying to find Jed inside upper blackrock spire, which sometimes requires resetting the instance multiple times and/or creating multiple instances of the instance. Whenever I leave the main group, then zone out and zone back in, it says “You are not part of this groups instance” and will be ported back to my hearthstone location. In other words, the game is not creating a new instance for me.

There are horde outside of the instance so I don’t have time to stand around waiting for a layer swap outside of the instance - there is only time to zone in and back out. Am I supposed to wait for a layer swap? What is causing the problem?

I uploaded a video of it happening

Are you admitting to trying the layer swap instance exploit?

What? How would I layer swap if I didn’t join a new group? Did you watch the video? I am just trying to figure out what is going on here. If I drop group then zone out / zone in, why am I joining an instance of a group that I am no longer a part of? That is my question

The instance of the group is your instance as well as theirs. Leaving group won’t change that as it does in retail. You need to reset instance manually in order for it to be reset. You can do that by right clicking on your character portrait -> Dungeons-> Reset.

I am unsure if you NEED to be in a party to do so, but if you do just invite a friend, reset the instance then drop group.

When I leave the group it is no longer my instance though? Also You can’t reset it when players are still inside the instance. And what if I get kicked from a pug so they can bring in a guildy, I just can’t zone into that instance until they reset it? That’s pretty garbage

I am pretty sure you can probably join a party with someone else and reset it manually. Or if the other person invites you it will already be reset. You should try it to see if it works.
