So, Black Lotus prices keep going up and up every week. Because of Blizzard’s refusal to address the spawn rates (due to new server population numbers vs old vanilla pops) … Flasks of Supreme power are now about 185g per flask on my server. We all know the prices of things are going up and up.
As such, I think I am going to drop Engineering. It is completely useless to me as a Mage. I don’t really NEED the teleporting trinket. And the PVP trinkets are fun but also not needed. In fact, the only Engineering trinkets or items I ever use are the XL jumper cables and the Ultra shadow reflector (for the pesky warlocks and their DoTs). Neither of which is worth keeping Engineering for. And the “battle pet” trinkets like the Battle chicken is nice, but doesn’t do much damage. And it’s buff is for melee, not for me. And the top tier battle pets like the Arcanite Dragonling? 1 hour cooldowns. Not worth it at all.
Bombs? I can get Holy waters in Strat for Nef AoE.
Sell crafted items? Literally, 99% of anything an Engineer makes, requires engineering to use. It’s bad. Crafting engineering items is to sell to other engineers who could just make it themselves. Except maybe Jumper cables XL and Goblin sapper charges to Gnomish engi’s… but this does not sell well enough to warrant keeping Engi.
I see no reason to keep this profession. It was really fun while leveling up, using fun items like the Death Ray. But at lvl 60, not worth it.
I see no reason to keep a profession that makes little to no money.
I think I will go Skinning, to combine it with my Herbalism.
You do you. Specific professions shouldn’t be “required” for anything, and if making money is your goal, gathering is where it’s at. However, instead of skinning, i would say just go herb alchemy and get high on your own supply. The recipe for mongoose is pretty cheap and it’s quite profitable.
Herb alchemy would be optimal but based on what you just mentioned, I’d go herb/mining. It also really depends on your play style and goals. When I was doing the brutal rank grind the most efficient was herb alchemy (in between q’s I could be profitable in the open world or in the city).
You can’t no, but honestly I’ve remembered the spawns for the RTVs on the routes I take so most of the time I just have on track herbs and when I get close to a RTV spawn point I just switch it to and from real quick.
Herbalism can make money yes but farm mountain silversage, dreamfoil, fadeleaf maybe.
Unless you are super dedicated with alts on the spawn locations, keeping track of timers and all, you won’t be able to find a single black lotus node.
Since the beginning of classic I have only seen 1 black lotus.
Engineering is BiS for pvp, so unless you care about winning duels and dunking on people in BGs, I wouldn’t bother, it won’t really shorten the grind if your going for rank and gear.
Double gathering will make your farm runs more profitable.
Engineering is hands down BIS. You get so much things for PvP and pve. Sappers are amazing. The Melee trinket you mentioned also goes a long ways. You need to be buffing the flavor of classic which is the warrior.
