Drop Expectations

For those that have never played Classic, keep in mind;
GREEN = Uncommon
BLUE = Rare
PURPLE = Epic

Outside of dungeons/raids
Green items you can see drop on a daily basis.
Blue items you might only see every 2 or 3 weeks.
Purple items might only drop every 2 or 3 months.

Depending on how much you play.

What about legendaries?

About seven.

I was more implying where is the mention of those? Does he have some hate against them? Probably mad that his guild didn’t let him to get Thunderfury as a paladin LUL

Before epics where handed out like candy…

Greens where usually quest rewards.
Blues where usually dungeon rewards.
Purples where usually raid rewards except for a few very rare world drops.
And Legendaries where usually non-existent except for the rare person who has no life.

The only other exception being crafting of course but crafting epics usually required recipes from the raids themselves and a lot of mats from the trash mobs.

Yea, what Mightylink said.

Blue items only drop every 2-3 weeks if you run 1 dungeon every 2-3 weeks.

It’s more:

  • Greens are an uncommon drop or quest reward.
  • Blues are a rare drop, hard quest reward, or dungeon loot
  • Epics are a very rare drop, rare dungeon loot from a final boss, or raid loot.
  • Legendaries are a raid guild effort for 1 person to get.

All legendaries are built from other items. Those other items, many people will never see a drop, and almost everyone will never receive one.

What about Ashbringer?

Hunter weapon!

Corrupted Ashbringer is an Epic. There is no legendary Ashbringer in game.

Ah. Never did Naxx because you know… TBC was coming out like a month after Naxx release. No point.

I hope Blizzard is remembering all the flavour around it though:

Remember to unequip this before you go to Light’s Hope, it makes you temporarily Hated with Argent Dawn.

In Retail I got 1 Epic and 3 Rare drops in the first three hours of my free play to 20. WTF?

In Vanilla, I was level 56 when I got my first BOE Epic drop from grinding (about knocked my socks off since it was usable with my class!), and I didn’t get my second Epic until well into 60 and guild was finally running ZG.

Obviously, you didn’t read/understand my original post.

The OP did say…

Clarifying he was talking about world drops.

This was one of my favorite parts of classic. I remember being legitimately excited over blue items and even some specific greens. When you got an epic you were jump up out of your chair excited.

The first epic I ever saw drop was a boe out of Zul Farrak from those elite mobs that spawned when you dug up the grave. The entire party went bonkers trying to decide what to do.

Yeah lots of interesting scenarios happened when an epic BoE dropped in a dungeon pug…

How are you seeing purples drop out in the world every 2-3 months? I didn’t see a single BOE epic drop in 4 years of play outside of dungeons and raids. They are not that common.

speaking of ZF, weren’t there 2 blue sword drops in there that could combine to make a 2h sword that was an epic. I can’t remember for sure. I remember having one of the swords on my warrior tank that I was leveling because it gave a shield (this was before I realized how bad an idea shields on a warrior tank were so give me a break there).
