Were they meant to be this hard?
Im actually struggling hard to get the gold rank.
Almost always reaching 1 second off, not even the hardest of the skyriding races gave me this much trouble, it took me an hour to complete one of the tracks in the normal and reverse modes.
Perhaps getting gold ranked should be something to minimally practice at, and; not expected to be completed less than 24 hrs from release?
Iâd like to think they are indeed intended to be that difficult.
Some of the optional components like the crafted tires that improve grip while drifting and other boosts can really make a difference. At least they do for me.
I almost suggested this, but I havenât tried running any races with alternate parts and was unsure if it was like dragonriding races where you have base ability
I didnât think about that, but it seemed to me that they worked. Perhaps I was just better at the races after doing them a couple times.
Well managed to get two down, havent found the other two yet.
Dragon races were the same way until you unlocked all the glyphs/perks.
Yeah but I donât think there exists âDriveâ glyphs to make it better. I know there are customization options but I donât think they are as transformative as dragonriding glyphs
If they are then shame on blizz because it gives a terrible first impression to their new system
Dragonriding races were absurdly tuned when they first came out, with a couple of them requiring practically frame perfect play. Eventually Blizzard realized how ridiculous that was and toned them down.
Theyâll probably do the same thing with these races eventually. Itâs just gonna be a few months, because this is Blizzard and lessons canât ever stay learned.
Yeah theyâre terrible the first course I did itâs basically a bunch of mostly straight lines no reason to drift I thought but then I learned that you have to spam drift 24/7 all the time to collect a certain amount of boost to get gold (also press 5 to skip to end to save a little time)
Itâs not obvious when & where you should drift most of the time and the answer is actually all the time drift even when going in a straight line find a way to drift itâs not fun and feels terrible but I got all gold by doing what I just said
I managed to get gold in every course normal and reverse. I agree that these were difficult and there was growing pains in getting the drive mechanics down. These felt more challenging than the challenge mode dragon races back in Dragonflight.
It plays like mario kart yeah. If ppl know that then its not too bad. Just kinda awkward cuz using mouse/keyboard instead of an analog stick imo

They are. Youâre far more beholden to the terrain, partial collisions as far as Iâm aware donât exist so any collision will completely destroy your momentum and knock you backwards, you need to drift and collect cans to use Turbo and because drifting is contextual thereâs a chance youâll just jump instead unless youâre whipping your camera, the speed gives you much less time to react to things on top of having to navigate through a city versus the open air, et cetera.
Thereâs also no cheese for it akin to the Skyward Ascent cheese for Dragonriding / Skyriding, as far as I know at least.
This happened to me like 7 times in one of the races.
I completed all of the bronze ones and got the engine, bought the 22H wheels off the Auction House and got them all to Gold in <2hr after my first bronze race. Theyâre definitely not too hard.

it goes way faster and is betta
Well i completed all the gold races with the base car, so i get bragging rights.
The only thing I like about the race is the announcer memes a bit on the Dragon Race guy.

Itâs dark with absolutely no airflow.
I chuckle every time she says it. Then I keep driving. Because I can barely maneuver that heap from point A to point B. I canât imagine actually racing. Skill issue.
