Drive... Abandoned by 11.2

Estimated time until this feature is completely abandoned - Patch 11.2

Dreadful integration, it feels like Crazy Taxi - Except remove all the fun from Crazy Taxi and remove the music from Crazy Taxi and you have Drive.

Honestly… it is really bad!

Why:

  1. The areas that require drive are far too tight
  2. If you use keybinds that are not default it requires rebinding to make it more comfortable
  3. Using Boost just feels really unnessesary, even using ground mounts only is more fun
  4. You just end up boosting and drifting into a shop and unmounting constantly

Really… its just really poorly designed for such a tight network of streets

It’s pretty much abandoned for me now. I plan to just use ground mounts.

It’s a zone ability so most likely actually. :stuck_out_tongue:

The zone is small enough that you probably won’t notice the transportation time difference

I don’t understand Blizzard’s obsession with making zones vertical mazes with clutter everywhere. WoW genuinely has some of the worst zone design in AAA gaming, and it has for years.

Flying is an absolute necessity in this game because travel is completely tedious without it. DRIVE could have been fine in a wide-open area built to accomodate it (though I doubt it will ever be “backwards compatible” the way skyriding was) but instead they made a super cramped zone with no space to take advantage of the fast speeds and where the restricted turning is a huge problem.

Personally, it can’t be abandoned soon enough!

I love DRIVE. It’s such a cool system. I hope it gets expanded to all ground mounts.

It’s a one patch fever dream until we meet the harronir before a pivot to nothing but elves for 2 sweet, glorious years. I can get through this

Overpromising and underdelivering has worked for at least a decade for Blizz. Why would anyone expect a change now?

So my only issue right now is I custom keybind my stuff and I am really having a hard time with drifting.

Like it says to hold down spacebar and move with the arrow keys, but nothing has happened?? I tried many different combinations and I cannot for the life of me drift, so I had to skip the tutorial to get that out of my log until this shizzle is figured out.

take the slow and steady skill and you’ll be happier.

Having played WoW since late Vanilla, I was underwhelmed when I read about it. At this point, if it doesn’t give me a usable and desirable mount, pet, or attractive transmog (so little of that, sadly), it’s probably not worth doing, since actual FUN is the dead last priority for devs.

DRIVE, and really all of 11.1, are not giving me a good feeling right now.

I’m concerned people in my guild(s) are going to start dropping out.

do you have trouble because you play with your feet?

Its meant to feel difficult until you get better at it and get better parts. they only have been saying it for months.

Its not great this Drive thing. Fine for undermine but thats it. To compare it to hoq good dragonflying was is crazy. And thw reason ia mainly coz the skies are empty so u just fly above eveeythibg and go ham. With the Drive u cant do that so slaming and stopping in crowded areas makea it lame.

Drifting around corners on my crab mount, activating it’s… booster?
