So I stomped away from Blizzard like the toddler I am after the last Classic I was on progressed from WoLK. - I strictly DO NOT want to play in Cata or beyond… - Now that I’ve calmed down and come back, I’m happy to see Anniversary realms are an option.
That said, there is only one "normal’ anniversary realm?? - How is the balance on it? With only a handful of days in on Horde, it seems like it might be Horde-heavy but I’ve never played on a “full” server before.
Also, if anyone has any hot takes (esp. blue posts) on whether Blizz will offer locked / cloned TBC or WoLK servers as Anniversary progresses, that would be nice to know as well.
There is definitely a very vocal group of folks asking Blizzard about TBC/WotLK era servers as well as the ability to clone their characters. No response yet though that’s not really all that surprising. As someone else suggested, it’s possibly too early to determine if it’d be worthwhile to have TBC/WotLk era servers. Still, keep shouting your support for them from the rooftops.
if you’re coming back after a break, i seriously recommend rolling on classic era, either whitemane cluster (pvp) or mankrik cluster (pve). the community is sooo much better than anniversary, which is just garbage megaservers with a million layers as you can see
things are different, blizzard made an attempt to maintain class balance on the servers so you couldn’t create a horde character if there were already too many horde and vice versa “full” doesn’t really matter everything is layered anyways
Yeah anniversary has layers but we saw like 12+ other people whilst leveling in Loch Modan tonight, & it’s not like I see fellow guild members except when grouping for instanced content anyway. Cities are bustling & everyones part of the same trade chat.
Playing Nightslayer Ally, great experience so far.
The economy is always going to be scuffed by botters, doesn’t much bother me.
You mentioning layers brought to mind a question. As I understand it, general chat will only show for those in a particular layer whereas global channels (I believe that is the correct term) such as trade/LFG will show for anyone regardless of layer.
With that mind, when you type /who, does it bring up everyone in the zone regardless of layer or only those in the same zone and on the same layer?
As insanely busy as every (non-starter) zone chat has been from what I’ve seen, I have to imagine its all layers but I would appreciate a more experience/knowledgeable answer or viewpoint as well.
