I’ve finished the dream catcher quest (200x shred of insanity) and created the Dreadful void focus. I’ve used it for tailoring to create 470 legs and hands. Does anyone know if i drop my other profession (enchanting) and pick up engineering or jewelcrafting, would i be able to use the same focus to craft 470 items after gathering the recipes or would i have to do the quest line again for a “different” void focus?
Going to preface this with “I haven’t done it, but I read the forums a lot and this is my understanding”.
The focus will still work. People who had two crafts from the start only had to make one focus and it works for all crafts that need it.
However, there was a bug at 8.3 launch that anybody switching professions since has not been able to get any of the new plans to drop for their new craft. I have not heard it has been fixed yet - although it is not uncommon that people only complain when something is broken but never think to say anything after it is fixed so it may have been and I just haven’t heard so.
So I would seek clarity on that second point before doing something as expensive as switching.

Did you confirm if we have to regrind the shred of insanity…if we drop our professions and get 2 new ones?
You don’t have to. If you’ve gotten it in one profession then you’ll have it for others. Just fair warning though, I kept the profession that I used to create the void focus (tailoring) with and dropped the other(enchanting). I’m not sure if it would stay if I had dropped tailoring.
Just to clarify, the focus isn’t tied to your profession. You create the item that provides you the quest which is like any other quest. It is not a profession-related quest.
