I agree, the new flying is way too janky, fidgety and vigor limited to be enjoyable. I want nothing more than to go back to real flying. If i wanted to micromanage every second while traveling I’d buy a GOOD flight simulator, not some half-azzed system cobbled into an Otherwise enjoyable MMO.
Both have pros and cons.
I agree with all of the pros you said about trad flying, I love being able to fly around and get the perfect angle for a screenshot, and it’s simple and easy, but it is a bit static, uninteresting and slow.
I also agree that Dragonriding is quite hard to get used to, and can be bad for people with motion sickness or even with some lag. But it is incredibly fast, super fun and a great way to enjoy the game if you are good at it, and if you aren’t you can always ask around for help, cause fun fact you can actually ride along with someone elses dragon if they have it enabled!!!
Both have great pros and terrible cons, no reason to pit them against each other when we can see the benefits of both!
Dragon riding v normal flight is like comparing a dependable Toyota sedan v a drag car, sure the drag car is faster, but it brings a lot of problems to the table.
I prefer flying over dragon riding (even though I like it a lot), simply because I don’t have to recharge once every while. Flying, I can stop mid air and be safe; I can move from A to B continuously if I so want, if I hit mountains, my speed doesn’t drop off; I can just climb instantaneously and go over it (all things I have encountered in DF).
I like DR, but give me proper flying too; DR complements flying by it’s incredible speed for both traveling long distance and landing sweetly from a great height; but I don’t think it’s a replacement for proper flying.
Dragonflying is far superior and I hope they bring it to the rest of WoW because normal flying sucks so bad whenever I’m forced back to using it, that said I hope they bring regular flying back soon in Dragon Flight for people who don’t like dragon flying.
