I just wanted to put some visibility out there that there ARE accessibility options in the game that may help with motion sickness and Dragonriding! I don’t get motion sickness myself that often, but when I do it’s miserable. And I’m having fun with dragonriding, I hope that more people are able to do so with tweaks to their settings:
In the Options menu, under Accessibility > General, there are several options that can potentially help:
- Alternate Full Screen Effects - Checking this will minimize flashing, zooming and wind streaking effects, and other visual clutter
- Motion Sickness - This option has a FEW settings that you can left or right page through, they are “Keep Character Centered”, “Reduce Camera Motion”, “Keep Character Centered And Reduce Camera Motion” and “Allow Dynamic Camera Movement”. I’d recommend the third one!
- Camera Shake - Can be “Full”, “Reduced” or “Off”, the last one will probably help the most.
I’ve also heard that adjusting the FPS options in Options > System > Graphics at the bottom of the list to be higher or lower can potentially help. More tips from my ex who used to get really bad motion sickness in FPS games, make sure you play in a well-lit room and aren’t too close to your computer monitor, if possible. Take eyestrain breaks by frequently looking at other steady objects in your surroundings.
I don’t imagine that playing with the settings will help everyone, and it’s completely aside from the issue that some people just plain don’t like movement being turned into a minigame. I just wanted people to be aware that there are some tweaks that you can play with that might make it more tolerable if you find yourself having problems.
