I agree with this sentiment. I think it would have helped to increase the starting vigor by a couple bubbles. Three bubbles doesn’t feel like enough to really play around unless you find a way to get up high first.
For me, I didn’t think I was going to like dragonriding but I had some practice with soar on my draccy and the dragonriding is such a better version of that. I also 1000000% love the fact that all my other characters are hitting the dragon isles with the baseline dragonriding. Already much happier with it than pathfinder.
Initially I was grumpy about nodes being out of reach too… but now that I have dragon riding all those nodes are within reach.
I don’t get these comments. I’m a 37 year old woman, I been playing WoW since 2009. What I love about WoW is how easily/casual friendly it is. I don’t like games where they are hard/you die a lot etc. I like games that are for relaxation. So when they add a feature that honestly just makes me feel angry, it isn’t fun. The last time I felt this angry/annoyed was getting the staff back in Firelands because I was doing it as a Resto Druid and kept failing over and over and wanted to just quit/give up.
I just want to get from Point A to point B, no hassle or annoyance. That’s all I want

That is a very good post and you have explained your situation very well.
I didn’t touch dragon flying a single time until yesterday, and I’m perplexed how people are struggling with it.
Made leveling much funner than past expansions.

People did fine being grounded until later patches so you’ll be fine until pathfinder comes out.
If you need to reach the really high ones, find another slightly lower point on the map. Launch from there, get as high as you can with your current vigor and then dive towards your target. You will regain vigor to allow you to boost back up a bit to hit the higher points.
Dragonflight’s zones are way larger than any other expansion’s zones because they are designed with the mindset that you’re traveling at nearly eight times the speed as a ground mount. It’s way more inconvenient to travel on the ground than it is to just suck it up and struggle with dragon riding.

Yeah, you also can’t really do Nokhud Offensive that way either…
How to train your dragon
You can only do this treasure hunt once since apparently it will unlock the glyphs for your alts
Edit: i missed the reference ill never live this down
I think this is really it. I didn’t beta so it has taken getting used to but now when I see something on the map I think first about dragonriding to it rather than ground mount. It is so much easier. My main problem today is that I was herbing and dragonriding around and tried to DR without letting enough vigor build up while stopped. I also have to take a few tries to land on the small peaks. Bad dragon aim!
I have defaulted to dragon riding for just about anything at this point. Quest turn-in is only 15 feet away? Well I’d have to walk around this arbitrarily small wall to get to it, so I guess I’d better use my dragon riding.

I called this. People with less than 5 points spent in the tree complaining how bad dragonriding is.
Get the glyphs. It’s infinitely better.

IDK I am not really liking the option only to use dragon riding. Sometimes there are no moutain of cliffs to glide. We should be able to use our flying mount but maybe at a reduce speed like 180% instead of 300%.
Also it make no sense to sell flying mounts in store and twitch drop only to have them not useable.
If flying mount can’t fly in Dargon isle then blizzard should either stop selling flying mounts in the cash shop since is not useable anyways.

Its not for you, great.
It is for those of us that enjoy it.
Thanks.

Dragon Riding is the forking tatas. Yes, you can no longer afk mid air on a mount. That is kind of the point.
If you want ‘passive’ flying, flight paths still exist and they are all over the place. Turning movement into part of the game is a good thing.

The people complaining do not have genuine complaints. There’s no way a reasonable person can arrive to such an expedient mindset after less than a day worth of using said mechanic.
The ones complaining about dragonflying are the same ones complaining about change in general. They’re the same crusty employee you have at work that have been doing x task for y amount of years and they’ll be damned if someone changes it.
It was about time we got some new physics added into the game. My only hope is that they can somehow retroactively apply this new method of flying to older mounts without having to re rig everything.
But if they cant, they can at least leave the old mounts on their historical air swimming and all new flying mounts rigged with the new flight model.

Getting to the highest point and waitibg for 3 charges is the best way to get the highest ones.

Make sure you are nosing straight up when using Skyward Ascent. Otherwise you dont get the hyper speed thing going on and you wont climb far.
Secondly, there is a landing spot waaaaay up closer to the top so you can rest and recharge, which I think they had in mind anyway.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it is actually flying. But nope is gliding very fast. Try to take off on a flat surface and fly up to the mountain you simply can’t. One simple fix is to allow the mount to fly at 100% speed or even 80% so you can still slowly fly to where you want and leave the dragon riding for like extra speed.
Right now you literally have to take off on a moutain or cliff. Also some people have motion sickness and blizzard totally didn’t not account for those people so you are saying they should not play the game? Coz you need ot do the quest to to contiune.
Then there is the cash shop issue. Blizzard is still regular flying mount which can not be use on dragon isle. Why did blizzard put cash shop item that does not work for its intend use (to fly). If regular flying mount can not fly in Dragon isle then blizzard should remove all mounts from the cash shop since they are selling something that’s not useable.

I’ve been having a blast with it. It is the first big feature WoW has added that involves momentum, physics, and associated control coordination, and I appreciate it. I do agree that you should be able to “dragon ride” with the massive amount of dragon mounts already in the game. They sold one in the heroic edition of the expansion and just gave another out through twitch drops that you can’t even use in the new zones! What gives?
