Dragonriding isn't available until level 60

Nowhere was it ever mentioned that when “you can dragon ride in all old zones” that you could NOT dragon ride until level 60.

I could be wrong here, but I’m pretty sure the restriction is in place due to not having the Dragonriding UI unlockable until level 60.

When Dragonflight launched, you could use Dragonriding at level 10 if you summoned / ported your toon to the Dragon Isles. Somewhere along the line (maybe 10.1 or 10.1.5) they made it require level 30 (basic flying) to do so. I wonder if it’s now 60 everywhere. I no longer have any toons under 70 to test with.

Yeah, I just tried it on a level 50 in Stormwind. She could use the DF drakes, but they just act as normal mounts, there is no Vigor option and the do the usual hover, etc, standard flight options. I doubt its a bug, its likely deliberate.

This ruins everything. I was so looking forward to dragonriding on my leveling alts. This is garbage. I just shut down, I don’t even want to play.

It’s the same thing. They are preventing low level toons from using dragon riding.

I have a lot of under 60 alts that have been parked for years and I thought well they said dragonriding is coming to the rest of the world so since I’ll be able to get around so much quicker maybe I’ll go ahead and level them. They didn’t say one thing about it only being available to 60 and above.

I’ll go ahead and log in later and delete every one of those alts because I have zero interest in ever playing them now. I’m only going to keep the characters that are 60 and above, and no duplicate classes either, which means I’ll be deleting the majority of my characters. Looking at them I should get it to maybe nine left from fifty seven.

I want to thank blizz for curing me of my alt addiction because this sure did it, decisively.

If this is the case, perhaps try porting to Dragon Isles first on the lower level toon. When you first port into Dragon Isles, the UI should be automatically unlocked. Then, try dragon riding in the old world again. I say this because even on a level 60 toon, if you haven’t been to the Dragon Isles yet, the dragon riding mount will still act like a normal flying mount.

Took the zep to the isles on a level 49. Can’t fly at all there despite using the grotto drake and the storm bird. Nothing unlocks so they must have detected fun…

Tried it on a 49. Nothing unlocks. Can’t fly there at all.

Well that settles it then. When I get on later I’ll be clearing out the bank and bags of around 48 characters then deleting them. That’ll cut way down on my playtime too since I won’t have all those toons to mess with.

I have three 70s I race changed years ago but want their heritage armor so I’m in the process of leveling one each of their race to unlock it, and once I get those to 50 and get the armor I’ll go ahead and delete them too. Then that’s it for new toons.

Again, thanks for curing my alt addiction blizz!

I have not experienced this being the case on any alt I leveled prior to this patch. On each one, I had to turn in the starting quest in Stormwind or Org which told the game that I had “started” Dragonflight and at that point the Shadowlands covenant minimap report changed to the Dragon Isles report. Taking the boat/zeppelin before that point did not unlock either.

Does porting to Valdrakken unlock the Dragon Isles report? That’s the one thing I’ve never done with a non-max alt.

And once again fun detected…

If they didn’t want us being able to dragonride until 60 then they should have announced that.

I am getting thoroughly sick and tired of this, I’m a whisker away from quitting this game again. Probably this time for good.

my lvl 30 was able too (I play alot of 30 twinking for low level raids) and I parked my toon in valdrakken mounted so when the patch went live I was able too, however once I dismounted I lost the ability to use vigor… Its so stupid I waited a year to use this on my twinks. I dont blame blizzard for alot of thinks others do usually, but this was a dumb dumb stupid decision
