A ground Mount Mario kart style race event with real players. Bunch of speed boosts, hazards, and power up items to hurt others or boost yourself in a way. We have so many ground mounts that it would be fun to see everyone pick their favorites and just go to town racing.

Yeah but its very janky and no one plays it multiplayer. If it was updated to dragoriding/ “dyanamic flying” standards it would be amazing. They would have to expand darkmoon island to go along with that, but hey, the DMF needs a big update anyway.

I used to use that feature all the time … still do, when I go fishing.
We do have races against each other… that they never promoted nor did anything with. Most people I know didn’t even know it was a thing. Which is sad. It was fun in beta.
They should expand the idea of those. And actually do some promoting of them. Make events, etc.
Yeah, you kinda have to show up randomly and hope someone else is there to race. It could have been great, but it just seems like they bailed on development before it was properly finished.

Dragonriding is the reason I no longer play retail. I will never buy another retail expansion as long as I am going to be forced to either walk or use dragon flapping for most of the expansion.
As to your “idea”, why not go even more immersive and make walking as silly and painful as flying has become?
