Dragonriding Controls

How does one control the dragon, especially making it descend, in Mac OS. It will only ascend, glide and fly horizontally. There seems to be no button on the action bar to make it descend.

You don’t need to descend with any of the dragonriding buttons, but you do need to use the right click on your mouse to aim at a particular angle or directly at the ground. You can probably use the right click functionality on a touchpad if that is what you are using, but I imagine it isn’t as easy or comfortable to do.

I haven’t tried this, but I wonder if this add-on would help. If not, there may be other add-ons out there, or other players here who have been using the touchpad already.

Basically, dragon riding reveals all the players that were relying on keyboard turning on their mounts. it’s basically a “learn to mouse steer or this game will be painful for you” feature. Mouse steering is act of holding right mouse button down and then just using the keys only to go forward.

I think once players get used to it, it’s better, but it’s learning curve for those who’ve spent years just using asdf to control their mount and not their mouse.

Wait until people learn I used a hybrid control scheme when flying. I’d turn with my dual shock 2’s left analogue stick and pitch up and down with the RMB/mouse turning. If I needed to strafe I’d hold down RMB and use my controller’s left stick.

The current client seems to have broken toggling autorun on/off if you have a cursor over an action bar button though, which can be problematic for clickers doing dragonriding.

Dragonriding doesn’t require auto run or even holding forward since once momentum is formed it isn’t canceled in dragon riding.

Autorun toggling is primarily for stopping once flying. But it is still an issue that hovering over the action bars prevents parts of the mouse from working. Didn’t start happening until the new edit mode system got put in during the prepatch.

Wow, I think you found the issue I’ve been having!!!

This post changed it from something frustrating to very easy. Thank you ! Hold down right mouse button. Was definitely using keys prior without knowing that it’s just a whole other method.
