Dragons should be the next neutral playable race.
think about it, the dragon lost their immortality because of Deathwing’s defeat and they have been presented with a lot of challenges through out these few expansions sense cataclysm because they lost their immortality.
and now that we have gone through the shadowlands we have learn so much about the realm of death, but what about the ream of life where Elune surely must be at???
one of the biggest problems that the dragon flight had on the expansion of Legion was that they can’t produce eggs like they used too so basically they are facing extinction.
so what if we end up going where Elune is?? what if we discover a way for their kind to survive?? to join us on this quest for survival would be a reason for them to become a new playable race??
right??
that just my opinion though.

I agree with you. I think one way they can implement dragonkin, is by allowing them to assume their “humanoid” form like we see some of the major players do (alexstraza has a blood elf form for example). This could come in handy for mounting and such. You also see this dynamic with worgen, who have a sort of “dual race” dynamic.
They can def make it work, and honestly, like ogres and several other races, it’s long overdue. We have interacted with so many dragonkin that they are practically a part of the horde/alliance, and also share our goals.
it’s one of the few races i would consider changing to.
Plus we need to explore the dragon isles, so it’s a great idea

Absolutely not. They have no reason to join and die for either faction and are more likely to keep to themselves. What would they even look like? Drakonids? Dragonmen, like Nefarian’s creations? More elves? The entirety of every other race’s models? Another borrowed power system where our characters are infused with dragon power seems more likely.

will the dragons have large talons asking for some fiends
i don’t see why not.
i think the Dragonkin should be a race capable into transforming into one of the dragon flight.
i think they should resemble one of the dragonkin in wow that walk in 4 legs, but that should be their ground mount form.
Ugh no. That’s a horrible idea.

i still think they should, as for joining either faction the Pandaren didn’t had a good reason to join and we still did.
i think it should be ok for dragons to join one of the faction for the purpose of saving their kind of these factions find a way for them produce egg again.
i mean either join a faction that could potentially save your species or just go extinct…
that is your opinion friend and i respect, i still think they should be playable.

Dragons might make an interesting Race-Class Hybrid. Your race basically is your class. You can assume a humanoid form for interaction, mounts, lore, ect; but your actual gameplay allows you to assume the form of an “average” sized drake (vaguely mount sized sans rider) rather than a full grown dragon.
Your color/dragonflight doesn’t change the way the class/spec functions but maybe changes the damage type you deal: Blue deals frost, red deals fire, green deals nature ect. You have a natural flight form that’s basically just you spreading your wings at level 30.
Could be a very cool and novel idea. If Blizz makes playable dragons they should go full hog with playable dragons than just water it down with some kind of dragon-esque race.
It’s an absolute long shot but it would still be cool.

there’s multiple models for dragonkin in the game they could use imo…i’d prefer they come up with new fantasy ideas for playable dragonkins though…it can be done if they trust their artists and used their imaginations a bit more.
although, I think it would be cool to have a giant Lord Drakkisath looking character on your raid team…visually, it would be awesome to see

i like that idea.
it’s like a upgraded class or a new hero class like DKs.

i agree
ideas like that sound crazy, but that’s exactly how the dev team should be thinking if they ever want to innovate this game. they should take some risks with ideas and shake things up a bit

Dragons still have power that other races do not have. It would feel like a neutered race, if they became playable.
There will never be a neutral playable race. Pandaren are not neutral. Albeit ridiculous is the idea that a Pandaren will fight another Pandaren just because they “went satisfy curiosity” in opposite factions, to the game system, they are different “races” that look alike.
That is the reason the idea of dragonkin made playable is also “never happening”.
If they are what they should be, they would be “OP”, and if they are not, no reason to have them.
D&D online/EQ is that way →
it is true, however in the lore a of right now, the dragons have lost a lot of power because of deathwing not only that but they had to sacrifice the little power they had just to help fight off N’zoth.
the point is, they are no longer as powerful as they used to be and they are mortals like the rest of the races of the world.
the biggest problem they face now is extinction and sense we are currently in the Shadowlands (the realm of death itself) we have learn that there is another type of power existing not only that but we have found out that Elune is connected to the realm of the living but she doesn’t live in the realm of death aka the Shadowlands.
Elune have been connected to the dragons as well thanks to the green flight, so i ask why are they unable to produce eggs just like the other flights??
personally think that should be either a new expansion or a new questline to find out the answer and that is why i believe they should be playable at this point.
D&D runs it’s own stories.
i prefer to share my opinion of wow in the wow forums.
but thanks for pointing to that other direction.
here have a cookie my friend.
irony coming from an elf player
