Some people on this forums just want to see this expansion to fail because they just want to confirm their negative beliefs. And those who keep on saying that they’ll wait 6 months or wait till 10.x.x well it’s already patch 10.1.5 and soon to be patch 10.1.7 and 6 months as passed and yet we’re still here.
Player retention is higher than it has ever been and that is a good thing. But of course those who wanted to see dragonflight to fail miserably failed at their attempts at it.
Dragonflight overall is a lot more inviting than say previous expansions and I do hope for more of this kind of expansions in the near future.

Didn’t we just have this thread like 2 days ago

It feels really dead and quiet in terms of community right now. I’m not sure Dragonflight really brought it as good as some fans say it is.
Even in Shadowlands, which everyone keep saying is bad, actually had a lot more players roaming around.

It’s not Warlords, and that’s fine by me.
Live at Five! Dragon Flop has already failed. It’s just the Blizzard Defenders will play anything bad and they don’t care that the male version of Elizabeth Holmes is at the head of the company.

Seriously, who does OP remind me of?
There was some blood elf male poster who constantly posted Blizzard white knight threads. I’m blanking on the name.
This guy fits his posting style to a tee, I think he’s returned.

Yeah
I know these forums are anecdotal, but even on here I notice a good number of posters who unsubbed/quit during Shadowlands have never returned
I find this interesting because by all accounts Dragonflight is a “big upgrade” compared to SL… but there’s still that elephant in the room of the players that never came back, not even for the “oooooh! aaaah!” factor of dragons
Why would they come back? Every single expansion - including BFA and Shadowlands, which did irreparable damage to WoW - launched with hreat hype and acclaim. It’s going to take more than a bunch of people saying “Its good now” for them to come back.
For my own personal opinion, Dragonflight is… eh. It’s alright I guess. It’s certainly not up there with any of my favourite expansions, but it’s also a far cry above the worst expansions. Middle of the road. The fact that it’s following BFA and especially Shadowlands makes it feel better than it actually is, but it’s still got plenty of flaws and issues.
Quite frankly, while I’m glad that player retention is higher, I also couldn’t really recommend people come play WoW.

Expansion after expansion some of the same people sit on the forum complaining abut how bad the game is but can’t seem to leave. It’s hilarious.

I just want wow to be good. Dragonflight has ranged from pretty good to extremely bad.
I wont be able to make my mind up on the expansion as a whole until we get the last major content patch.
But i want more content like 10.0 and 10.1.5
If we get that then i want the expansion to have been a success.
If we get more trash like 10.1 then i want the expansion to fail.
But i dont want the game to reach that point.

It’s the same poster who has been doing this for months now. It’s just their posting shtick. Point, laugh, and move on.

Mm I don’t think this is necessarily true. A lot of feedback about the expansion has been pretty accurate. Lack of engaging story. Lack of available content. Zones become dead after new patch drops. Classes that just weren’t working. Etc
Is it? Do you have a source for that? Seems about the same for me.
I don’t think that’s being as contested. Dragon flying seems to have gotten a lot of positive reviews.
As it currently stands, can’t rate it as one of the best though.

I highly doubt the zones are dead since these days blizzard uses layering or sharding technology to move players to a new layer to prevent lags.
I play on 3 different realms, started with Area 52 which has always had a large pop but lately I decided to level some alts on Kil’jaeden and was surprised at how empty it is.
A lot of people seem to have left. KJ wasn’t as busy as A52 but now it feels like a ghost town. It’s kind of sad.

This isn’t just a Dragonflight issue. Watch nearly any Twitter, Instagram, Facebook post. Negative Nancy’s who literally only post content to see other content “fail” is EVERYWHERE. And it’s cool to hate anything and everything related to Blizzard now so there’s also that. The world we live in…
At this point, they just need to admit they are addicts
Addicted to giving Blizzard money and addicted to griping about it
Which is honestly childish and immature and wasting their own time just to be a negative person towards blizzard.
Totally agree. But it’s “content” so…
Blizzard has actually said that player retention is higher than at the same point in recent expansions, in 2 separate invester report thingies.
So we do have the official word of the company on that. (Only recent expansions though so shadowlands and possibly bfa)
But we do also know that dragonflight sold less copies than recent expansions.
So they the percentage that has stayed in higher, but of a smaller playerbase.
