Save yourself time and money , youtube the story so far .
Im not really sure , i skip all the cut scenes
Better than Shadowlands, but that’s not exactly a high bar to pass.
It’s the best expansion in decades.
Asking the bitter forum goers isn’t going to get you an honest opinion.
Some of the optional storylines are very sad, so be prepared for that ![]()
I’ve enjoyed it so far. I’ve enjoyed helping each Dragonflight restore their oath stones, and learning about the Dracthyr and what happened to them. I really enjoyed the Black Dragonflight storyline.
For me it feels more rewarding and like I am a part of it, it feels more grounded. Shadowlands just felt too large, like I was just tagging along watching what was happening to much bigger forces than me.
It’s actually fun. A great relief from playing SL. Getting your dragon mounts up to speed is exciting. The stories are compelling. But not the best expansion for storytelling IMO. ![]()
It depends on what you’re looking for in the story.
DF is excellent if you enjoy a focus on world building, and of course dragons. I was skeptical at first but have come to enjoy DF’s narrative theme. It seems it’ll really start picking up in 10.1.5 with a focus on the Bronze; however for those paying attention, we’ve also gotten very interesting story threads related to the world as a whole. No spoilers, but stuff related to the titans, the old gods, the infinites, the emerald dream etc. It’s all great to me.
However, if you’re looking for a more grimdark story like Legion or BFA, DF is a hard pass so far. It’s a very tame expansion, more focused on expanding (and tbh, repairing) a lot of the old world’s lore and exploring it in interesting ways as well. It really seems like they’re taking the time with DF to step away from the darker themes and more immediate action to just get everything back in order in a calm yet enjoyable way. Sorta MoP 2.0.
Dragonflight is very character driven type of narrative and world building.
I’d say the expansion is well worth picking up, maybe not for the story alone but the gameplay has been very fun.
The main story is… alright. It’s had ups and downs but is overall kinda meh. Better than the painful experience of Shadowlands but that’s not exactly high praise.
The side quests, though? Oh, there’s been some absolutely phenomenal ones that are worth experiencing.
