Dragonflight weapons

Haven’t seen anyone mention this yet, but the dragonflight quest weapons are amazing.

Just thought it’d be nice to bring up something that I think they completely nailed, just to break up the constant stream of repetitive complaint threads.

I know some people will think they’re too simple, but I kinda like the low fantasy look of them.

They look like SL weapons to me.

They look pretty plain jane to me.

Was going to say the same thing. If someone told me the appearances came from Sanctum, I’d 100% believe them.

Not my cup of tea, but Blizzard’s art team is probably the biggest powerhouse of the company that has been consistent time and time again.

Unfortunately, they’re just reusing old assets these days, it seems. Granted, they always reuse things and have since like Warlords, but… now it’s new races not even getting new rigs or models and old banked SL assets being used in the new expansion.

I’m being pessimistic tonight. I’ll stop. lol

I don’t see it.

I guess some of the colors are similar?

Ngl some of those are pretty cool. The 2H sword looks really solid.

The thing about this though is every new character model they add in is another race they need to support for essentially every appearance they make forever. Keeping the same rig but altering faces and other relatively superficial features keeps things a bit more manageable.

If you made a new model for every new race, you’d start running into the problem that Pokemon is running into where they now have so many Pokemon that when they make a new game, they need to pick and choose which mons are getting included.

I’m just annoyed that KT got a brand new rig and model as an Allied Race… but the new Hero Race/Class is a reused rig and the same damn Human and Belfs we’ve had for over a decade.

That’s why I like them, personally. I have a few “dressed down” toons that like plain lookin stuff.

Although the staves are too plain imo.

I think the staves might actually be my favorite, not a fan of the stop signs we usually get.

Totally valid. I’m honestly super surprised they didn’t make playable ogres on the horde with the same rig as Kul’Tirans since they both have the same body type.

Unrelated, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say they were “jealous of kul’tirans” unless they were specifically talking about their non-moonkin druid forms XD

Ignore the skulls.

ah yes, I see.

If I ignore the differences they DO look the same!

You know what I mean!! They both have a dull metal look loaded with thin, sharp and curvy spikes theme going on with similar color schemes.

One just also did that with skulls

I see it just looking at their color palettes, but the shapes look different enough to me.

I think if they messed around with the tints a bit the comparison would be a lot harder.

Those have a pretty good old school fantasy feel to them.
The colors are very similar to 9.2 weapons though, which makes them feel a bit odd.

Would love them to have a grittier palette.

Yeah these look like something from vanilla to me. Especially those staves.

Plus the daggers look like actual daggers and not freaking swords.

Yeah but in a very good way, right? Like if Vanilla weapons got a makeover.
The green, blue and gold color variants just feel off to me though.

Totally agree. The coloring is a bit wacky.

The vanilla ones were more grayish coloration varieties as well as a general black. But Blizzard has really liked gold lately.
