Dragonflight Thoughts

Hey ED,

I left the game back early shadowlands due to a combination of losing interest in the current, and a group of friends getting really into Classic WoW.

I didn’t really have a huge interest in Dragonflight until I started seeing a lot more information on the class trees not long before launch and decided to pick it up on a whim.

It’s early expansion, so of course its fun, but I have to say there are a lot of small things that have really impressed me since returning, I’m sure most anyone thinking about coming back has seen how alt friendly this expansion is shaping up to be, and the dual class/spec talent trees have been a lot of fun to play with, the ability to change specs on the fly for more aoe/single target/glass cannon/durable type set-ups is very fun.

What has surprised me is for the first time in a long time I find myself interested in the story, and some of the quests are interactive and interesting enough that I find myself reading them carefully and wanting to know what will happen with specific characters, and I am still at the start of the expansion.

Honestly for any other ED people thinking about coming back, I encourage you to give it a shot. Worst case scenario you get a couple good months out of it, and it doesn’t feel like you have to play daily to be relevant so you can still keep your classic wow raid nights/other games etc.

I was hesitant to join a guild or invest to much time at first, but ED is still as fun as I remember, so hopefully I’ll have a chance to see more familiar faces as well, and I’ll get around to joining a guild soon so that I can see some raids, and get some good RBGs goin again.

Cheers all!

I didn’t have high hopes for it at all really. I was just looking forward to getting to play with my guildmates. As soon as I started playing my Dracthyr I was blown away and hooked. Definitely not what I expected. As soon as I started questing in the isles I felt it all over again. I felt like I had A.D.D. because I just had so much I could do that I was going nuts. Dragon glyphs, ore nodes, quests. Their were little things that added to it. I am STILL in the first zone because of this.

I really love the talent trees. I don’t remember ever in WoW where the talent trees were this in depth. It allows for so many different builds for characters. If you are still looking for a guild let me know. Also Soldiers of Azeroth is a new cross faction discord. TinyurlDOTcom/wowsoa is the server URL. This is not like the other groups that existed before. It’s a place where everyone is equal and has say.

We’re building up, no one is going to wave a magic wand and instantly get everyone into it but we are still pushing all the same. If you have any questions or need help with anything feel free to ask me or anyone else in the SOA discord for that matter. It was made with everyone in mind.

My only real complaint is the lack of markings for quests. Add ons are pretty much mandatory (I got a virus from an add on way back in the day and have come to detest them) because it’s so easy to get lost in the never ending shuffle of NPCs and side quests. I’ve been 70 for a while now and still don’t have the portal back to Org - I can only assume this is due to some incomplete quest/chain, yet I’ll be damned if I can find where to pick it back up. Other than that I have no issues.

I’ve been doing quests as I come across them. It was a little strange though because I went through the Waking Shores looking for ore and found another quest I had never done all because I just didn’t explore everything. I really like that part, it makes things feel more adventurous.

The lag in Azure Span has been atrocious.

Dragonflight has been pretty fun imo

I don’t know how else to put it. I haven’t had this much fun in a long, long time. I never recommend WoW expansions but feel safe in saying that if you’re an old, burnt out WoW player THIS is the expansion to pull you back in.

I stopped leveling and temporarily started on another character due to that Azure Span lag the last couple of days.

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

I’m coming back from Classic, and I have to say the talent trees are half the fun.

DF to me is really well implemented. Is it perfect? No, but dang it’s fun. I level how good an expansion is based on the amount of fun I have. I play to enjoy it and if it’s boring as heck like shadowlands I don’t play much. So far dragonriding is super fun it really makes wpvp awesome, the quest areas are great, the wpvp areas are interesting, that one at cobalt… craziness.

They just disabled bloody tokens in raid which blows but lot of us got a lot of tokens. Just barely got the 6 pc when it got turned off, so that sucks but we can do multiple 5 mans.

Overall this is going way better than shadowlands, the fun factor is a lot higher than in a long time!

I’ve been a big fan thus far. I hated the story and zones in Shadowlands. I liked the most of the zones in BFA and Legion but the story was iffy.

This time, I love the zones, the quests, and the story has been better. The overarching story seems better than the last few. Seems less end of the world massive mega threat. And the zones seem to have more character and all the side quests and factions have been fun.

Plus Tuskarr. I want to be a Tuskarr.

Yeah it’s amazing what one can achieve as a writer when you aren’t trying to parrot GoT and Marvel Universe plot hooks and narrative.

Dragonflight has been fun, lightweight with a simple story and fun mechanics.

WPvP is fun as it hasnt been in a long time.

Leveling and Gearing is quick and simple.

Great first impression.

I’d say one of my favorite parts of this expansion is Dragon Riding.

Aside from that gearing is easy, and i’m ready for pvp this season.

Hmmm, I have been on the sideline on getting DF but if old school players are giving it props, I might have to check it out.

Dragonflight has been fun so far.

Despite the random little disconnects I get, or addons still messing up, everything has been fun. The questing and leveling experience is easy and flows well, the dragonriding is great and fun especially in warmode when you can knock other players off their dragons!

I especially like the 2 week ‘break’ we’ve gotten. I feel like I’ve been able to level the alts I want, get started on professions and establishing a small stockpile to sell, without the feeling of being rushed as compared to previous expansions.

The professions are…something that will take time to feel comfortable with, but I feel like I’ve got a good grasp on what’s occurring there.

Wpvp has been great and usually can get some battles and skirms in over crates.

So far, 9/10 for the expansion. ^-^

Big thumbs up so far on DF! (and I play ret lmao). Great expansion.

Only complaint I have is Blizzard introduced a memory leak issue in the Mac OS client for the first pre-expansion patch, and it has yet to be fixed … uggh.

Oh and I don’t think my profile will ever update on here, I’m Mordain, dwarf, paladin, and proud member of The Guard.

dooooooo it, charax.

You should know me well enough to know I went ret. So far it’s my favorite spec from Dragonflight and my God can you dish out the damage. It’s like the sequel to Paladins from Lich King.

I think versus other dps our damage is on the lower end, BUT we are the kings of utility and protection of ourselves and our comrades.
