Dragonflight, the ongoing Beta version

I am normally fairly patient with game errors; after all, its a big complex thing and errors can crop up. But lately it almost feels like I’m playing a test version of the game rather than a live one. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t stumble into some game error. It feels as if the Quality Control has not only left the building, it’s vacated the planet.

I cannot be alone in this sense of ongoing frustration. And I wish I could figure why it is happening. Is it that things are being hurried and they are taking shortcuts? Is it a staffing issue? A cost issue? Whatever it is, I am getting a bit weary of paying a sub to play a Beta.

“Errors” like what? I noticed a word in that treasure hunt quest text was misspelled. I /shrugged and got on with my day.

It’s an online game that’s constantly being tinkered with. There will be bugs. Welcome to 2004.

Yeah, whenever they brag that the WoW dev team is “bigger than ever” from whatever previous standpoint, I want to shout at them that it certainly doesn’t feel like it lol.

The content cadence is fine, everything else, balance to bugs, are not.

Do you have anything specific? I occasionally get dced while dragonriding, or if i use the titan portal on nodes im sometimes sent to the shadow realm but thats about it.

Any specific errors? Like game crashing?
There are players who constantly whine about errors and in most cases it turns out error is on players side, not game.

Only real problem i had was take off DC , but that was fixed i havent had any other issues ,

That’s happened to me a few times in the tunnels going to/from Zaralek Caverns. But I always chalked it up to my poor potato of a CPU simply not being able to load things in fast enough.

You and I must be playing extremely different versions of the game then.

Because I don’t experience any errors, at all. Not one significant bug or glitch that has impacted my ability to play. Have some of my addons stopped working from time to time? Yes, but that’s not Blizzard’s problem to solve.

Back when the game launched I experienced take off DCs while dragonriding, but that hasn’t happened in months now.

Points you in the direction of the Bug forum You might want to browse that if you don’t believe me. I am not alone in finding problems with the game.

Some problems I’ve found recently:

  • A repeated issues with my rogue where she cannot lockpick a chest until I repeatedly log off and on.

  • The inability to make use of the flight master in Undercity which tells me I have no connections from a flight point I have been using for 14 years.

  • Problems with the current Community Rumours items.

  • When I had the clues items in my bags I was unable to read them and had to log off/on more than once to get them to be readable.

And this is just a few I can think of that have bothered me recently.

I can see that others disagree and that’s fine. If you are lucky enough to avoid the issues, then I’m happy for you.

The fact that they are problems for some and not others makes me suspect addon conflicts are the culprit for most of these issues.

This.

I’ve had addons prevent me from being able to use items in my bag, from even being able to use skills on my action bar. As frustrating as it is, it’s not the fault of the game, rather it’s the fault of the addon and how it communicates with the game.

You complained and didnt mention one specific issue…

The only major issue I ran into is getting DCed in Valdrakken when dragonriding, and that’s due to their hypersensitive anti-cheat detection since due to the speed, sometimes it clips the ground.

Man why even bother replying? Totally useless.

You complained about complaining without bothering to mention why complaining is not okay.

I didnt reply to you, where is the problem?

No game breaking issues really. Valdrakken is major lag but I have a toaster for a computer

I have had the same problem, so what fixes it?
/reload
Its an addon issue

This one is a weird one but I’d hedge my guess and say you either found this out on an alt (that hadn’t used any of the maps yet) or, if its on a character that has connecting flight points it would be an issue with Sidormi

“Problems”…? Oh-kay, new interactables whose design is going to lead to fewer people interacting with them and they’ll interact with weird entities all the time?

Its certainly worth reporting these “problems” but the idea of going “How did this thing that was supposed to be secret to the community not get tested by the community” is more than a lil’bit silly
And most likely a lot of the issues also relate to the same issue as the lockboxes (not the exact same lines of code but addons themselves)

Again, have you checked your addons? Have you done a /reload? Have you done literally anything to indicate this isn’t a problem caused by you?

Here’s the simple fact about Dragonflight:
They changed the core UI, and it broke A LOT of addons - like it or not but since we as players typically play with anywhere from 0-2+ addons to 20+ addons (not to mention subcategories of required data-addons (dunno the more proper name, sorry) to make addons work) … a lot of addons are still trying to function like before they did in Dragonflight, and this is why every expansion and every patch there’s some types of addons that tend to break completely despite nothing being functionally different

If you have tried all of these things without addons turned on, then yes - those are bugs
Otherwise … with the particular types of issues you listed (primarily UI related issues), its most likely your addons causing it

I’m going to to go with the answer of: probably yes.

There’s a lot of bug reports on transmog issues and old qiest issues that I’ve run into that are just a tad frustrating.

To add to this, it’s always a good idea to do two other things:

  1. Delete the cache folder
  2. Do a full UI reset

could almost say the same for Windows 10, just got back up from a BSoD (not while playing WoW, thankfully)
