Dragonflight Survival Hunter Talent Tree v1.3

Okay guys, after seeing the new tree that came out a few days ago I went ahead and did it again. Below you will find a link to both the google drawing where you can see the visual and a youtube video where I discuss the proposed changes. I will also go ahead and put them in text form in this post. Let me and the Developers know what you think because from the changes they’ve made so far, they are obviously paying attention. Thanks!

Dragon Flight Survival Talent Tree v1.3

Augmented Talent - Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite choice node: In the current iteration of the Survival Talent Tree, Mongoose Bite becomes an almost mandatory talent point for Single Target PvE builds. Because Raptor Strike is the mandatory beginning Talent point you are effectively losing a talent point and making it so that you get 29 points while everyone else gets 30 points. Providing a choice right off the bat seems the logical way to solve this.

New Ability - Lacerate: Old favorite from Legion should make a return because Survival does not have a 2nd spender like the other two Hunter specializations. Cobra Shot and Kill Command for Beastmastery. Arcane Shot and Aimed Shot for Marksman. Serpent Sting has also been removed from the Specialization Tree outside of the new Hydra’s Bite Talent so that no longer counts. Lacerate fills that role and also this allows us to have more rotational synergy later on in the tree as a replacement for Flayed Shot.

New Talent - Wilderness Training: Increases the Hunter and their Pets Stamina by 5%/10%. More Survivability for the Survival Hunter…

Ferocity: Moved. Increased Pet Damage should not follow WFB. Moved to a more optional location.

Aspect of the Eagle: Moved to a more optional location as it is not going to be as necessary to have with Lunge allowing for more placement in fights. PvE or PvP. Some specs might want it but it should not be a dedicated pathway node.

New Talent - Secret of the Farstrider’s: Increase Elemental Damage (Fire,Frost,Nature) By 5%/10%
Removing Bomb Damage from right Tactical Advantage on right side of tree moving it to left side but allowing it to affect things like Serpent Sting

Energetic Ally: Moved to Single Target Side where it can grabbed without feeling bad. Still can be utilized by a more WFB build.

Intense Focus: Moved up to be grabbable earlier in the leveling process because Alpha predator is so far down the General Hunter Tree and closer to the single target builds as that is where it is more impactful as a choice.

Lunge: Moved to right side, still grabbable by WFB builds but more appropriate under the ToTS and Eage lines.

Flanking Strike: Moved up in old mongoose bite place.

New Talent - Cluster Bomb: Because the people want that extra oomf.

Hydra’s Bite: Again as with Intense Focus, moved to be more obtainable by ST builds as opposed to just blocking WFI builds with 2 points. Would also like to see some play with butcher and carve for application to assist AOE.

Talent Change - Tactical Advantage: Removed Bomb damage from Talent making it feel less bad for AoE bomb builds to have to spend multiple points in abilities they don’t want like Flanking Strike to get to increase bomb damage. New Talent in the top third increases Elemental damage to cover the loss.

Replaced Talent - Wilderness Survival: From BFA, Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite reduce WFB by .5/1 seconds. No more janky Bomb reduction from the rarely used in a fight Kill Shot. This is more reliable and is rotationally usable by ST and AOE if they want to spend the points getting there.

Talent Change - Bloody Claws: Kill Command reduces the cooldown on Flanking Strike by X seconds increasing with Rank. The increase Kill Command Damage is not bad, If that stays to launch I wouldn’t be mad. It just seems like a perfect way to reduce FS’s CD in a more rotationally viable way outside of the proposed Frenzied Strikes to the left having Butchery/Carve Reduce Damage. Plus the rest of the specializations get to do the same thing like Cobra Shot to Kill Command and Surging Shots for Rapid Fire.

Replaced Talent - Primal Focus - Reduces the Focus Cost of Raptor Strike by 2 / 5 focus or Extends the duration of Mongoose Fury by 1 / 2 Second. Yes I am a mad man. This talent would be a game changer for MB builds and RS/BoP builds. It would be nutty.

Talent Change - Deadly Duo: Lacerate has a 7%/15% chance per tick to allow Kill Shot to be used on any target regardless of health. Removing the need for Kill Command to reset in order to have Kill Shot be usable. This is the Lacerate synergy that was alluded to previously. Lets mythic+ builds keep the massive AoE damage but also have a source of steady Kill Shot ST damage like with Flayed Shot/Wailing Arrow.

Replaced Talent - Blur of Talons: During Coordinated Assault, Mongoose Bite / Raptor Strike increases your Agility by [X] and your Speed by [X] for 6 sec. Stacks up to 5 times. You will be using both RS or MB during CA. This give more of a reason to even pick CA and then Birds of Prey down the road.

New Talent - Mortal Wounds: Lacerate has an 7%/15% Chance to make the next RS or MB cost 0 focus. This is an old Legion Artifact Trait and is the synergy from Lacerate previously alluded to. This creates smooths out the rotation and allows more RS/MB at the target per Spearhead CD or MB window…

Now. I am not sure what to do with some talents like Spear Focus and Sweeping Spear being nearly redundant but there could be worse things, have been worse things, and I can see some of that same talent design in some of the other trees. Just not as prominent.

Also I have no clue what to do with the new post capstone talents. They are 3 points but they dont add too much value. Ruthless Marauder is good for WFB smoothing but for 3 points there is more to be grabbed I think.

Anyway. Thank you for giving this a look over. If you like what you see please give the post a heart and if you can comment your feedback it might just make it to the Developers ears and we could see some of the changes that we want to see, like we have seen already. It is not too late but it will get harder to make changes the closer we get to the Beta season.
