For the longest time now leveling in a new expansion doesn’t really mean anything. It use to be about the journey and exploration but now it’s all about how fast you get leveling out of the way. Most players don’t even read the quests and use add-ons to instantly accept and turn them in.
With the introduction of dragon riding i feel like people will reach max level faster than ever before. Its going to be fun watching people race to max level and will probably do it in a couple hours at most since we will have flying from the start now.
From the looks of it you’ll unlock dragon riding in the beginning of the first zone and get a new dragon every zone, leveling up dragon riding and getting new abilities as you progress through the campaign. It’s also sounding like the dragons with the abilities are faster than the normal 310 flying we have everywhere else. Looks… interesting.
Leveling time should be a little longer than Shadowlands, but not too much longer.
from https://www.mmo-champion.com/content/10709-Dragonflight-Alpha-Developer-Interviews?, there’s a video attached so there might be some more context but I didn’t watch it so idk.
I am doubtful that will happen - blizzard can easily adjust things to make it take a week to level up if they wish. They look at how fast people level up in alpha and beta and just adjust the amount of xp you get from quests or the amounts of experience you need for each level.
Leveling is a means to an end… which is getting to max level so I can start doing max level content such as raiding and mythic dungeons. I like those 2 activities… and questing can go screw itself!
You need to remember that the zones are designed with dragonflying in mind. So I don’t know how much of a shortcut it’ll actually be. Rather, I think it’s going to be prove to be a distraction, potential source of frustration, and very likely cause of ending up off the optimal path, for many people.
lol…raiders, some anyway, are whining about having to do side quests to get to max.
Why even play the game at that rate?
If you made them wait any longer their collective corks would all pop in tandem like dominoes falling, lmao.
I actually got to the point on beta where you unlock Dragon Riding and do the tutorials, I guarantee people will be super frustrated with Dragon Riding
It’s “flying” but it’s not the flying we have now, it’s weird and involved and has a learning curve it isn’t just mount up and go.
Personally I’m happy about the way Blizz developed the quests. Because you can’t progress unless you do those quests because they are part of the main storyline and the way they are setup lends itself to causing people to waste a lot of time running. Which means there will be less people in my way while questing
